What career options are there in exercise / fitness? I am a college student and am looking at careers in the fitness industry. I previously had wanted to major in business but the thought of spending all day in an office working working for some corporation is becoming very depressing to me and I feel it would lead to a low level of satisfaction in my life as I age. I consider myself to be intelligent and dedicated and am want to receive a bachelor's degree as well as any other necessary education so what I am wondering is what career options are there for me outside of being a basic personal trainer and what type of income can these jobs provide? Any input is appreciated. I wanted to mention that I live in southern California and would be willing to move around the area as I get older.. I get the feeling that there are a lot of opportunities in this area in the fitness field in comparison to other areas (I used to live elsewhere)
What are some career options for someone joining the workforce after a gap of ten years? My sister has a diploma in software and used to work as a trainer teaching computer skills to employees of large corporations. This was ten years ago in India. Then she got married, moved to the USA, and became a stay-at-home mom. Now she wants to get an education and go back to the workforce. She intends to continue living in the States. What are some good career options for her? Thank you for any ideas.
Our education system is messed up? It's pretty dumb that students have to torture themselves with all this work, just for some future career in a retarded corporation. Is this REALLY what you want? Think back to when you were a little girl/boy did you HONESTLY want to be an Accountant? The system and the path it takes to get certain careers are so fucked up. Robs kids of creativity and passion. Kids dont want to be Astronauts and Artists anymore. They all get into college and matriculate into Business mode, Doctor Mode or Lawyer Mode. It's way too predictable. What do you think?
Pharmacy vs. Business career. Are you satisfied with your career? I'm thinking of going back to school to become a pharmacist. Financially, it seems like staying with a corporation would be better but not everyone has the connections or Ivy League education to become a CEO. I don't have any ideas to start my own business. I'm worried that eventually I'll be middle aged with no prospects for advancement. My parents are at that stage now. They work with budgets. Working in pharmacy would be a bit of a step up for me. I like going to school. When I was little I used to think about being a doctor but changed my mind when I saw that it was a long and stressful process. It seems like I could earn a pharmacy degree and another degree in the time it takes to become a doctor. Any pharmacists or pharmacy professors out there? Doctors or business people? Are you satisfied with your careers? Do you get vacation time? Do you have time to spend with your family?
What are the hot or higher growth industries of today or tomorrow with above average employment opportunities? I'm thinking on making a major career change and would like to get into a hot growth industry. I'm at a middle management level in a large corporation but am qualified to be senior management at a smaller company. If additional training or education is required, I can do that. I just want to choose something with genuine upward mobility potential. What industries or businesses do you recommend? Also, what parts of the US or the world would you recommend as I am willing to relocate from my current state of Texas.
Truthfully, what types of jobs can one land with a Masters of Public Administration? I have been working as a counselor for one year now for a corporation for DOL. I am 25 years old and considering to further my education and get a Masters in Public Administration. It is so hard to get straight answers as to the careers and salaries one can obtain with this type of degree. I do know that from what I have studied, I would enjoy this program because I like to work with people and one one of my strong points is my communication skills.
What is the easiest way to become certified in education so I can teach in NYS? I currently hold bachelors degrees in Math and Physics and a masters degree in electrical engineering. I have been working for a large corporation for about 2 years now in various roles and I am seriously contemplating a career change. Most of my friends from college are teachers and I have always considered that as a career but never bothered to obtain certification. What are the steps I need to take in order to obtain certification to teach at public schools in NYS and how can I do this without having to take too much time off from working or forking over tons of money for another degree? I have been told that with my degrees and technical skills I could get a job at a school as an assistant and they would pay for me to get all the education classes taken care of. I also heard I could teach at a charter school or private school to get experience while getting certified but that the pay is not as great. Please advise if you feel you can provide any valuable information.
Going from Engineering to Special Education and worried!? I am currently a Biomedical Engineering student. I LOVE MATH, science, some physics, and all analytical things. However, I cannot stand engineering. Why? I don't know. I don't want to work for a big corporation all my life. I don't want to work in a male dominated atmosphere (I had a job at a rapid prototyping center and the males were horrible to work with- i.e. "Oop, go do that with Sophie, she's a girl." "Why are females so ______?" I always wanted to go into a field where I could help people who really need it (the underdogs)- originally I wanted to go to med school and work at a free clinic. Money is NOT an issue. I really want to work with kids who have special needs- give them the care and attention and good teaching they need. But I am SO SCARED that I am going to miss calculus, and thermodynamics, etc, etc. How can I incorporate these things into my life without a career in them?
Please correct these highlighted mistakes as well...? 7. On the threat by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to sue him over his alleged remarks that the former deputy prime minister is a Jewish agent and a traitor to the Malay cause, Khairy said he would not apologise for anything he had said. 8. He said being bilingual was nothing unusual and today’s employers would view a potential employee who knew three languages as someone who could be chief executive officer or vice-president of a company. 9. “It is important to master languages. While I do not want a discrimination of languages, do not forget the need to be fluent in certain languages. You have to value language as a communication tool,” he told reporters yesterday after launching the My Career & Education Fair 2007. 10. Khairy said graduates needed to ensure they were fluent in a few languages instead of complaining about the strict conditions a company might impose on them requiring them to speak certain languages. 11. He was asked to comment on whether being proficient in Mandarin was now seen as an advantage in the working environment. 12. Khairy also reminded fresh graduates not to be fussy when seeking their first or second jobs, as these were the ones that would provide them the experience and knowledge to get their “dream job” in the future. 13. He said the problem facing the employment market was matching the existing skills of a worker with the available jobs. 14. Khairy said those who graduated with a Master’s degree should not immediately assume that they would be employed, as their qualification may not match the job they applied for. 15. Earlier in his speech, he said globalisation was not just a threat but also offered many opportunities where large foreign corporations had a “fierce desire” to market their services to Malaysians besides using the country as a hub for other Asean countries. A million thanks for those who could explain these mistakes. Anything wrong with the language?
What should I do about my level of education and my desire for a job in CA? Here's my situation. I'm 26 and a software developer living in CO. However, I have an embarrassing academic background (associate's from Westwood College). This is a result of my ignorance and lack of research when I made the decision when I was 18. The school sucked, but I made the best of it and was fortunate to find a job after getting a two-year degree and to perform well enough to make a good salary (80k) where I live, and am debt free. However, it seems this is going to come back to bite me, as I now want to move to San Francisco and look for another job as my company was bought out by a large corporation and things are heading south. My concern is that California obviously has fierce competition (think Google). Credits from Westwood will transfer nowhere. Should I go back to school (6yrs)? I hate the idea of spending lots of time & money (especially while in a demanding career) to prove I deserve a B.S. when I've spent so much time on self study and proven myself in other ways
how do i tell my story to the world? To all this may concern: I write to you in hopes that you can help me tell my story that ruined my life for the simple fact that I was of Arab descent. I am first generation American whose parents are Palestinians; my name is Eyad Shalash. The United States Federal Government appallingly took my freedom and all that was familiar to me in seconds--only to dismiss the case days before trial and with absolutely no apology. I whole heartedly believe I was a victim of racial profiling. I never had anticipated myself ever having to write anyone the way I am now. I was a senior at University of South Carolina, on the Life Scholarship, double majoring in international business and finance. I held the esteem position of being on the Dean's List for the three semesters prior to my senior year, as well. The Charges that were brought against me from the Federal Government was that of a sealed indictment, so at the time I had absolutely no idea what was going on. In fact, I thought it was a sick joke because I knew myself one not to mess with anything remotely illegal---moreover, a sealed indictment? I felt as if I was being treated like a member of Al-Qaieda. Maybe because of my Arab descent, they felt that I was a danger to homeland security? Sadly, I'll never know. Anyway, I suffered major losses. One that hit home was losing my internship with Merrill Lynch because of the farce of an ongoing investigation into which they were pouring useless energy. The following which I will explain not only caused me to suffer with my education and career but nearly caused my mother a stroke. The ATF (Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm agency) in ways I'll never understand accused my older brother and I for selling crack cocaine and ecstasy with sentences that reached twenty to life. It was 2005 and supposedly their whole investigation started the beginning of 2002---only a few months after the horrific terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center Buildings. They shackled my brother as if he was a serial killer and told me to turn myself in or they'll have to take me in. Not knowing, at the time, what the possible problem could be, I obliged. I never believed in the Land of the Free, the land of justice and liberty for all, that i would be fighting for my innocence. Only Two weeks from trial, my lawyer informed me that the case was dismissed. Overjoyed, at first, I was. Only to become so infuriated that I became severely ill and had a dangerously high fever. Thoughts rushed through my head, why should I be happy to get my freedom back? It should not have been taken away from me in the first place! Yet, I did not even get back all my freedom. It has been nearly a year from the day I was accused of all this and still unemployed today because everywhere I apply, I get rejected once they do a background check on me. After all this, one would think the Government would at least take everything off my record that they placed. I have become cynical in the sense of why would the Government go through the hassle of cleaning up their own mess--I am nothing in their eyes. The Government still has their mark on my "criminal" history record. I was robbed of everything that I accomplished and no apology given. My education was everything I had. Each day in school was like a brick that I used to build my house of success, and once I reached placing the roof of my house, a bulldozer comes and demolishes the years of hard work in seconds. On top of that, they take the bricks with them hindering my ability to even start again. I was fortunate enough that my family had the money for the lawyer that we had, but we lost over one hundred thousand dollars to them, along with all my dreams and hopes of ever working for a big corporation. Yes, I live in the USA, the country that gives you the most freedom in the world and the country that can rip them away in a split second even if they just do it by mistake. I feel my life is hopeless now. All my dreams of success have now all faded away. I sometimes regret waking up in the morning, jobless at the age of 23 with a college degree. All I ask is for some help or at least for a finger pointing me in the right direction where I can get help. Or at the least, an apology to give me hope in this country once more. More of this story was in the front page of the Charleston paper; I copied that and attached it as well. Sincerely, Eyad Shalash
Here is my solution (and Im a Liberal)...? Pull our troops out of Iraq as soon as possible, bring them home and get ready to defend ourselves against North Korea or Iran if need be. Funnel the money being spent on the war to paying off the huge deficit. Reinstate the Pay-Go rules of budgeting. Tax any entity (person or corporation) making $1 million or more per year at 50%. Anyone under $30,000/year at 5%. Pay more state tax and less federal tax. Bring back states rights to decide on a majority of issues. Grant amnesty to illegal immigrants first, then secure the border, and then change quotas to get rid of back log. Completely separate church from state and eliminate religious tax exemptions. Legalize drugs in personal use quantities, stop fighting the war on drugs, and spend that money on education and creating career opportunities for people with low education. That is the short of what I think this country needs, Less laws and government not more. Whether you are left or right do you agree? What would you do different? 50% tax on 1 million dollars would be $500,000/year net. 5% tax on $30,000 would be $28,500. Which one would you rather have...making 500k and giving the government half, or only making 28.5k and giving the government a very small piece? Obviously you want more, so it would still encourage you to make more money and promote capitalism. The argument that taxing the rich isnt fair or doesnt work is a fallacy. It is certainly fair and would certainly work if politicians quit taking bribes long enough to fix the tax code and enforce in on the richest people in this country.

do i need to major in music? i am a highschool senior deciding what to do here! so um, i love music. i would really like to continue my education in music. i've been playing the clarinet for 7 years, i am student conductor in my band (i love it), i'm in my church choir and praise team, i love to sing and write music, i love performing (acting/singing/dancing) etc etc. however, i'd really like to major in business and go to a really good business school. i am strong in my mathematics area, i love creating ideas and ways to sell products, make money, organize things, etc etc. i want to either go into finance or marketing (still need to learn about my choices here) now, in my hopes of having a great future career, it'd be great if i could combine my education in business and music to work for some type of music corporation not only in the performance aspect but within managing and looking over financing etc etc... (i hope what i said made sense!) it is sorta kinda like living two lives, but not really..? ya know? s in continuation, should i go ahead and double major (i've found a great program Bachelor Music/Master's Business Administration in just 5 years) or should I major/minor? if i major/minor should i major in music minor in business or major in business minor in music? would a music degree truly be worth it?
Great schools to teach young people to cheat...? http://education.yahoo.com/college/essentials/school_rankings/biz/best_career_prospects.html "Cheat" as in figuring ways of not how to EARN money, but how to cheat you of YOUR money(all legally, of course, because if it's legal, it MUST be OK). Find ways of taking their...PENSIONS...benefits...vacations...give them life insurance(and name the corporation as benificiary, neat trick, huh?). I wonder what Ivan Bosky, Keating, Lay, Skilling, and the rest of them will leave on the pages of humanity? A stain maybe? I want to be JUST like them, where winning is far more important than ANYTHING, even if I have to kick an 90-year old woman to the kerb, nothing more important than the money!!! Harvard, Princeton, etc, are you ready to turn out the next generation of short-sighted, self-serving business leaders?
Anybody know some things about Hillary??????? Oh wait..never mind. She wasn't born into money and political influence. She came from middle class Illinois, and worked her way up -graduating from Yale Law School during a time when women were at an educational disadvantage. As a law student, Hillary represented foster children and parents in family court and worked on some of the earliest studies creating legal standards for identifying and protecting abused children. Following graduation, she became a staff attorney for the Children's Defense Fund when she could have taken a job with a large law firm making much more money. After serving as only one of two women lawyers on the staff of the House Judiciary Committee considering the impeachment of Richard Nixon, Hillary chose not to pursue offers from major law firms. Her daughter Chelsea was born in 1980 but pregnancy and raising a well balanced daughter did not thwart her tireless work for families and children. Hillary ran a legal aid clinic for the poor when she first got to Arkansas and handled cases of foster care and child abuse. Years later, she organized a group called Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families. When she was just 30, President Carter appointed her to the board of the United States Legal Services Corporation, a federal nonprofit program that funds legal assistance for the poor. As First Lady of Arkansas, Hillary continued to advocate for children, leading a task force to improve education in Arkansas through higher standards for schools and serving on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital, helping them expand and improve their services. She also served on national boards for the Children's Defense Fund, the Child Care Action Campaign, and the Children's Television Workshop. She also continued her legal career as a partner in a law firm. She led the American Bar Association's Commission on Women in the Profession, which played a pioneering role in raising awareness of issues like sexual harassment and equal pay. Hillary was twice named one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America. When Bill became president, here's a few things she worked on as First Lady: to travel the globe speaking out for women and children, to make adoption easier, to expand early learning and child care, to increase funding for breast cancer research, and to help veterans suffering from Gulf War syndrome . She also helped launch a national campaign to prevent teen pregnancy and helped create the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997, which moved children from foster care to adoption more quickly. All of us know that she has championed healthcare before. Yeah, her plan wasn't perfect, but she's been there and is adjusting her plan based on her experience. She was also partly responsible for the Family and Medical Leave Act. Finally, in 2000, Hillary was elected to the United States Senate from New York. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Hillary worked with her colleagues to secure the funds New York needed to recover and rebuild. She fought to provide compensation to the families of the victims, grants for hard-hit small businesses, and health care for front line workers at Ground Zero. She is the first New Yorker ever to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee. And about Obama and his church: He has went to this church since 1988 was married there and his children were baptised there. I am adding the link from Wikipedia as well as the article and the church. You owe it to yourself to know everything about him. My question is why isn't he leaving this church? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/denise-whe... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obam... http://www.tucc.org/about.htm - If you look at the church website there is a "Commitment to Africa" statement.. it is said this is why Obama will not wear a US pin anymore. READ ABOUT LOUIS FARRAKAN AND OBAMA'S PASTOR.. it is here in the links. I don't think he's racist. I'd just say know who your voting for. "Just my opinion". I'm not trying to weigh heavily on the propaganda that's circulating the internet about Obama. Just the facts. I ask legitimate questions about Obama too. But I still can't get a sound answer.

what wrong with this? What is wrong with this? CORPORATE TRAINING Jill Smith Axia College of University of Phoenix Corporate Training Today, managers need well-trained employees and are finding they do not exist. Corporations are providing additional training for their employees. One such training program that is being added to corporate learning environments is an awareness of emotional intelligence. Business managers are learning that successful managers need high Emotional Quotient (EQ) or Emotional Intelligence (EI) to work effectively. Emotional intelligence is the ability to accurately perceive emotions in self and others, to identify different emotional responses, and to use emotional information to make intelligent decisions (Goleman, 2000). A leading expert on EQ finds, “people good at managing relationships tend also to be self-aware, self-regulating, and empathetic” (Goleman, 2000, p. 33). Emotional intelligence is especially important “at the highest levels of the company, where differences in technical skills are of little importance. In other words, the higher the rank of the person, the more emotional intelligence capabilities are needed for decision making effectiveness” (Goleman, 1986, p. 94). Emotional intelligence is crucial to a successful business career and for effective group performance (Goleman, 1986). The core competencies required for emotional intelligence are “the perception of emotions in one’s self and others, the understanding of these emotions, and the management of emotions” (Feldman, 2001, p. 4). Success in the modern workplace requires teamwork and collaboration. Emotional Intelligence training is essential because most modern companies rely on teams of employees working together, rather than on the action of individual managers working in isolation (Ganzel, 2001). Several accredited universities are delivering EQ training in hopes of preparing their students for the workplace. Grossman (2000) states: A current trend in education is to teach students about how their emotional intelligence can have a positive or negative effect on their career. Many universities are now offering courses in interpersonal relationships and emotional intelligence in an attempt to prepare students to be leaders. Leaders cannot lead in isolation, and an educational delivery system that features team building and collaboration is growing by the numbers. (p. 48) Emotional intelligence skills are a crucial component for a successful career in business. We live in a time of rapid change and in a world of diversity. The modern business environment requires managers to have highly functioning intrapersonal, interpersonal, and group skills. Emotional Intelligence is important today and will be even more important in the future. As more employees master emotional intelligence skills, a higher functioning group emotional intelligence should emerge. In response to this higher group EI, individual employees will need to keep refining their EI skills (Tucker, 2000).

Is Michael Moore is a Sicko ?? Michael Moore Is a Sicko by Sumit Dahiya by Sumit Dahiya DIGG THIS I want to tell the story of a young man who was attending a Southern University, a few years ago. During his freshman year he was sick with appendicitis, which he misdiagnosed as regular stomach ache for a day. As the agony grew unbearable, he was taken to the regional hospital in an ambulance. That night the doctors operated on his appendix. The young man was feeling better the next day. As he prepared to leave, the hospital’s representative took care of the paperwork by the side of his bed. His Insurance Company took care of the medical bills in accordance with his Insurance contract. The next day the young man was back to school. The Insurance Company saved the student from potential bankruptcy who was living on limited means as a college student. The young man was none other than me. The year was 2002. To this day I praise my good fortune that I was insured. Had I not been insured, I would have gone broke and I would have never been able to make it through college. But, Michael Moore did not bother to find countless stories like mine to present a fair synopsis of the American health-care system. Biased, unfair, hateful, venomous and anti-free-market is how I would describe Michael Moore’s latest propaganda film Sicko. When I first heard about Michael Moore’s intention to make a film on health-care in America, I was expecting a sequel for Supersize Me, considering his not so healthy lifestyle. Later on I found out that the film was about the state of health-care in America. Mr. Moore was upset at the way the Government has turned health-care into a fiasco, while turning a blind eye towards his socialist co-ideologues in Congress and State Legislatures who have turned the environment for the health-care providers of America into a hostile one by the means of populist legislation and frivolous lawsuits. As a Libertarian leaning paleo-conservative, I have always known how the Government just destroys anything that it can get its hands on. If you let the Government dog-sit your cute little puppy, don't be surprised if it sucks the puppy's blood by the time you are back. That’s what successive Government regimes have done to America. They sucked the blood out of this idea that was supposed to promote life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They started with the destruction of the constitution, followed by the destruction of the Republic. When there was nothing left to destroy at the Federal level, they stomped all over the States’ rights by refusing the Southern States their right to secede. The only institution that was left untouched all along; the Supreme Court of the land, was destroyed by being stuffed with partisan judges who have repeatedly stressed on their loyalty for their party rather than showing any loyalty for the constitution that they swore to defend. Destruction is what the Government is good at. Whether it is the destruction of civilization during wartime or it is the destruction of civil-rights during peace time, destruction of health-care in America is just another accomplishment of our Government. Michael Moore managed to find ten people across America who got "screwed" by their Insurance companies. Why should I be surprised considering the troll's leftist leanings that he could not find even one individual in this country of 300 million who owes a lot to the health-care providers and Insurance companies which were by his or her side during their tragic moments. While the commies in the movie hall felt angry about the "greedy corporations," I thought it was really stupid of the man who had his fingers chopped off on an electric saw for not having an Insurance policy. You buy a house to shelter your family. You buy food to keep your body functioning. You buy other good things to improve your life. So, what kind of dunce would trust the Government with his or her health, which is the most important thing in our lives? How about the chick who did not care about reading through the fine print of her Insurance policy, so that she knew that she may not have access to certain services through her insurer. So, why was she surprised when her Insurance company refused to reimburse her for the Ambulance ride to the hospital? When she signed on her Insurance contract that did not provide for an Ambulance service, the Insurance company was right to assume that their client was willing to take the responsibility of commuting to a hospital when in time of need. Otherwise, she was always free to choose an Insurance contract that did provide for Ambulance services. There was another sob story of an elderly couple who were bankrupted by the rising cost of their prescription drugs. They should have explored their other option. How about purchasing the prescriptions online? Last year I was smitten by steroids. Now, I place my hands on this holy computer that connects me to the world, that I have never consumed any quantity of any substance that was never approved by the goons at FDA. But, just out of curiosity, I looked into the possibilities of sourcing those magic pills that could give me a dynamite physique which would make the ladies go jelly in their knees. There are virtually thousands of online pharmacies that fill your prescriptions for a fraction of what you would pay at your local store. However, I do agree that Pharmaceuticals are an entirely different problem in America. A couple of years ago, I was listening to the Late Great Harry Browne’s radio interview with Marry Ruwart (download the show by right-clicking here and here). Miss Ruwart who has been in the Pharmaceuticals industry for a long time mentioned some of the Government-inflicted problems that the industry faces. While Mr. Moore was quick to mention that 18,000 people die in America every year because of no or little health-care coverage, he failed to mention that an even greater number of people die in America every year because the FDA either refuses to approve or takes a decade to approve badly needed drugs. This is on the top of the billions of dollars that the industry spends to research and develop life-saving drugs. One must not forget that it takes entire careers that span over several decades to develop a drug that saves thousands of lives around the world. While the Government literally throws our hard-earned tax money into the furnace by spending over a trillion dollars every year to develop weapon systems that cause mass-destruction and extinguish thousands of lives, we should have anything but disgust for the Pharmaceutical companies that spend billions of dollars every year to develop cures for illnesses that indiscriminately destroy human lives across the globe. They expend their own limited resources for their work in contradiction of our Government that extracts money from us at the point of a gun. If they fail, they don’t impose any cost on the society. If they succeed, the consumers are free to buy or avoid their products. That’s the beauty of free markets. I am not surprised that drugs are so expensive in America. The retail price of the drugs takes into account the decades it takes to develop the product and another decade it takes to get an FDA approval. It takes into account the cost of developing other drugs that never saw the light of the day because FDA disapproved them; as if the Government really cares whether we live or die. The cost takes into account the efforts of the company to be the first to come up with the drug. The costs further include the fact that there are investors who risk losing their hard-earned money by investing in a risky venture that does not guarantee profits. I wonder why the woman who went to Cuba with Michael Moore was so surprised when she found out that generic versions of American drugs cost a fraction of what they cost in America. The communist Government of Cuba does not have to worry about FDA regulation, billions of dollars in research and development costs and the risks that accompany investing the billions of dollars. The communist Government of Cuba also does not have to assume the liability of litigation that accompanies the risk of doing business in a free market. In the movie, Michael Moore interviewed Che Guevara’s daughter. That name sends a chill down my spine while I fall through a worm hole as I think of the thousands who were lined up against a wall and executed by the devil. The rape chambers and the gulags that were set up long before they inspired the tyrants in countries that had a desert or a patch of tropical forest, seem to be Michael Moore’s secret prescription for those who vote Republican or dare to disagree with him otherwise. One must wonder how Michael Moore managed to get hold of Che’s daughter in Cuba. Of millions of people in Cuba, Michael Moore managed to find the link to the person who is the perfect antithesis of life and liberty. While in Cuba, Michael Moore must have devoted considerable efforts to locate and get access to the communist elite. And, when he finally managed to get the access he used the supposed "luminaries" to bash the American way of life. I wonder if Michael Moore paid homage to Comrade Fidel, during his vacation in Cuba. The question is, what kind of ideologue would care to see communist mass-murderers or their descendants, and even caste them in an anti-free-market propaganda. At least Michael Moore was honest about openly expressing his communist-leaning sympathies by making us believe those damn commies in the Caribbean do it better than Americans. A few years ago, when a communist Ph.D. student who lived next door from me defended Michael Moore, I wasn’t a bit surprised. Michael Moore went to Canada, England, France and Cuba to contrast the charitable Governments of these countries with the "evil American health-care providers and Insurance companies." He went gaga over how the Canadians get all the pills and shots in their bottoms and don’t have to pay a penny for it. How about the wretched Americans living in Britain and France who get house visits by the doctor, the Government paid nannies and not to forget the paid maternity leaves? Only a person with an IQ equivalent to the room temperature could be scammed by Michael Moore into believing that there are these wonderful places on earth where people get all these nice things in a gift bag for free from the Government. I will repeat an old adage: "there is no such thing as a free lunch." The costs of sub-standard health-care services in these countries are socialized by their Government by literally taxing their citizens to death. In Canada, the taxes may not be as bad as Europe but the Government makes private health-care next to impossible by highly subsidizing socialized health-care and thus creating an uneven playing field. In Britain, the National Health Services is just one of the programs along with other frivolous Government spending that the taxpayers fund by shelling out every penny they earn for the first six months of a year (the tax holiday in Britain falls around mid-year). In France, health-care is just another Government sham along with the guaranteed employment, 35-hour work-week and guards against laying-off unproductive employees which motivates employers to discriminate between the usually reliable natives and the usually unreliable stereotypically lazy immigrants from Africa and other countries. Finally, do I need to believe the Castro-approved shooting locations for Michael Moore to conclude that Cuba provides world-class health-care, or is it that all I need to realize how screwed up of a place Cuba is when I hear of all those hundreds of thousands of Cubans in South Florida who risked their lives by swimming 90 miles to make it to America. It seems to me that the promise of a future in a society that has some sort of free-market leaning way of life is more powerful than the so-called "free health-care" of communist Cuba. The question that Michael Moore seeks to answer in his documentary is whether we should have a for-profit health-care system in America. The unequivocal answer is "yes." If we remove the incentive of profit from health-care in America, we will lose the edge that we hold over the rest of the world in terms of ground-breaking medical and pharmaceutical research and development. The lack of profit will lead the investors to move their investments elsewhere, where the Government does not poke its nose. In the absence of profits, and under the blessings of the Government, health-care which will get to be known as "public-health-care" will turn into just another bureaucratic hell hole like public education. Speaking of public education, Michael Moore must be so out of touch with reality living in his upscale condo somewhere in New York to claim that the Government is doing an excellent job at indoctrinating, oops! I meant educating our children. I wonder if Michael and his wife sent his stepdaughter to a public school in Bronx. If so, I admire this committed socialist. The state of public education in America is no secret for the rest of the world. How can you trust a corrupt institution like Government that lacks morality and principles to teach your children to grow up to be principled moralists? Besides, all you need to do to realize that the Government has diminished the intelligence and imagination our children is to have a peep in the places of high-end scientific research and development. You will feel as if though you are in Beijing of Bangalore. I admire the few American kids who manage to survive years of Government induced academic torture and still manage to make it to places that make this country proud. The point is that when we allow the Government to become the monopoly in areas such as education, police, fire department and road transport (to mention a few), we reject the prospects of a healthy competition which is required to provide the best services that money can buy. In the absence of competition, people get used to Government-provided sub-standard service. In a few years time we reach a stage that when a rational individual proposes the prospects of free and fair competition in areas where the Government holds a monopoly, the first thing to come out of people who seem to fill their Ritalin prescriptions on time is: "What about the roads, and who is going to provide the services of police and the fire department?" What are we going to do when armed gangs roam the streets like they did in New Orleans? We have reached a point in time, when it is a sin to even imagine what things would be like in the absence of Government monopolies and presence of a free-market-based competition. America has moved from being a Jeffersonian Republic to being a Hamiltonian State (see DiLorenzo), where the Government is nothing short of being a monarchy that Americans sanction every few years via the Diebold machines. It is not just about health-care. It is a problem with a much broader context. Government oversight and regulation has virtually seeped through every aspect of our lives. We are just short of having Government's cameras in our bedrooms. We are living in a state of emergency. While people like Michael Moore would like the Government to baby-sit us as long as it is not the Republicans, it is the duty of every concerned citizen to peacefully oppose the expansion of Government-led socialization. While Michael Moore's message may have been a compassionate one that urges us to take care of the weak and the vulnerable in our society, the repercussions of his suggestions of a socialized health-care sound ominous to just any rational individual. Instead of letting the Government assume any further control over our health-care system, we need to urge the Government to systematically de-socialize the way we take care of our health. We could start with the dismantling of the FDA so that pharmaceutical companies can speed up the provision of life-saving drugs. Next, we could dismantle the American Medical Association that regulates the number of doctors entering the industry every year. Then we may not need to import doctors from other countries that do not regulate their supply. Further we need to enforce the right of health-care institutions to hire non-union staff. If the hospital employees still volunteer to strike, the hospital’s administrators should have the right to suspend or fire the striking staff without notice and compensation. Finally, we need to have dedicated attorneys who tear to shreds the frivolous lawsuits that are filed against health-care providers causing their Insurance premiums to go up, which in turn inflate our medical and insurance bills. After all these efforts we could achieve a health-care system that can take care of the weak and the vulnerable in our society. If Michael Moore's intentions are genuine, then I am sure the consequences of a market-based health-care system will make him feel better. In the meantime he needs to lay-off that box of Twinkies. While the concept of markets may not mean anything to Michael Moore, people have spoken by the means of markets and have delivered their verdict against him. The movie opened at ninth spot on the US box office, and has been struggling to cover its production budget of nine million dollars. This is in stark contrast to his Republican bash-fest Fahrenheit 9/11, which made over 100 million dollars. After this debacle, I hope no rational investor would risk their money with the Twinkie-monster. In the mean time, I hope Fidel Castro appoints Michael Moore the minister of propaganda in Cuba. How to get legal representation Class Action Suit? As an American victimized in the 80’s by the New World Order schemes of Reagan and Bush, I feel a class action restitution should be made to those who were rifted out of their jobs, careers, retirements, and benefits and subsequently savings. The FASB ruling was nationalization of an employee benefits to fund corporations in the New World Order Goals and Global Fascism. I was a single parent raising my daughters in my home town where my parents lived. DuPont took us over , Conoco, and Americans were rifted all over the world as many wrote my father who had been in multiple overseas assignments. It was truly sad to watch the company destroyed and my home town destroyed. I filed a discrimination complaint on the grounds of disparate effect of terminations and was denied due process as the EEOC reported not on their findings regarding terminations but the existing population of the workforce. The president of the Oklahoma legal association unknown to me resided in the area and I could not get a lawyer to represent me and due process was denied. I had also filed through the state Department of Human Rights which did nothing. I likewise was slandered and libeled and blackballed and could not find work consistent with my education and experience.. My wife was so unhappy I finally had to encourage he find another man that could support her which she did. For a while I lived in a school bus. My retirement would have amounted to about a million dollars and my savings were wiped out putting kids through college , getting them married, etc. I would say any rights I thought I and my family had as an American citizens were totally and intentionally destroyed by the government and the corporations. Those damages continue to this day. No I am not bitter. If a debt is created it should be paid. I believe in personal responsibility and if a loss is created it should be dealt with. No I am not bitter. If a debt is created it should be paid. I believe in personal responsibility and if a loss is created it should be dealt with. There is no reason for any American to have to tolerate this kind of abuse.
Staff Accountant for a company - should i puruse an MBA, CPA, or CMA? I am currently thinking about accepting a job as a staff accountant for a company that specializes in the cruise line business and I want to know what higher education path i should pursue to a better career. Here is my background: -I hold a B.S. in Economics -I was previously an AP Accountant for another company I am aware that being a CPA requires a lot studying in tax and will eventually get into auditing. I have no experience in the public accounting field, and i dont really know if auditing is something i want to do? (Is that reviewing financial statements for other companies, corporations, business, and making sure they abide by GAAP). The reason is because, I dont really think i like to travel that often and not sure if i am a "great peoples" person. Does this also rule out being an MBA then? I hear that a CMA is also respectable and that it is for individuals who want to do financial management for a single company. I have no idea which one of the three i should choose....
what is the dumbest thing america has done the past 8 years? 1. rape poor americans with high inflation (gas, food, etc) 2. allow the patriot act (spying on you, against the constitution) 3. spend large sums of money on a war that wasn't supposed to happen in the first place 4. have a lousy leader that should have been impeached long ago for not having the integrity to speak properly, you need this as a leader to drive your country in the right direction 5. too many rich in high places getting more tax breaks and their business activities being more profitable due to more deregulation 6. trapping poor americans in bad loans that they should have never acquired in the first place 7. poor regulation of corporations to leave this country at ease and create imports while at the same time taking careers of americans over to the east 8. poor education that does not create jobs, the jobs today are really corrupt because it's favoritism and not discipline 9. media ignorance, they don't make the issues clear enough for us to believe 10. lies
Can you please edit my paper? The upcoming presidential election proves to be a contest of the ages. The race has been riddled with drama. On one hand we have Barack Obama the Democratic Nominee. Second we have John McCain of the Republican Party. Both have illustrious political careers, yet only one will become our next President. Only one will hold the reigns of not only our Country but will guide its direction. Each of these candidates differs in key areas including the situation in Iraq, our economy, and abortion. It is absolutely key that we decipher their intentions for they will decide the course of our future The war raging in Iraq has been under a great deal of debate and scrutiny. Not only has it been a heated topic, but it’s an absolutely key section during this Presidential election. Barack Obama has always been a stark opponent to the war in Iraq. As a senator in Illinois he strongly campaigned against the war during his 2004 senate bid. He went on to state “I am not opposed to all wars; I am opposed to dumb wars.” The Presidential hopeful is also opposed to the current influx of troops. He specifically supports a phased withdrawal of troops from Iraq. He believes that the Iraqi people can make a determination about how they should move forward. Obama doesn’t want to sacrifice any more American lives for a foreign cause. As a senator in 2002 McCain voted for sending and authorizing the use of American Armed forces to wage war in Iraq. John McCain is a current supporter of George W. Bush’s policies concerning the war in Iraq, though he has criticized the management of the war. He also supports the current increase of troops, and wants to maintain levels of troops in Iraq. Our Economy has always been a great concern as it currently affects our daily lives. Whether it is the current tax incentives, or our dependence on foreign oil. Though each candidate differs we should pay close attention to their expressed policies. Barack supports tax incentives that will aide companies who keep jobs here in the U.S. He also suggests a $75 billion dollar plan for our economy that would return a $500 dollar tax rebate along with a $250 dollar social security supplement for senior citizens. Obama intends to use federal money for states hit hardest by the housing crisis. This would aide California greatly due to many of the foreclosures we have experienced. Barack would also put more federal spending into unemployment. It is clear that Barack cares for the typical person as opposed to big business. On the other hand presidential hopefully McCain wants to lower taxes to help small business. Yet he wants to slice the corporate tax rate from 35% down to 25%. John also intends to give tax breaks to businesses that invest in equipment and technology. The clear trend through McCain shows that he favors business and corporations. The debate concerning pro-life and pro-choice has been ever so heated and proves to be a dramatic focal point during this upcoming election. Ever since the Supreme Court’s dramatic decision in Roe v. Wade that ultimately made abortion legal, has the debate continued to surge. Barack Obama has always remained a constant supporter of the pro-choice ideal. He supports a woman’s right to choose as protected by the U.S constitution. “A woman’s ability to decide how many children to have and when, without interference from the government, is one of the most fundamental rights we possess. It is not just an issue of choice, but equality and opportunity for all women.” Barack opposes overturning the decision of Roe v. Wade and has made it absolutely clear that he would fight any attempt to rescind it. In the Illinois senate he voted against a bill that would ultimately ban late-term abortions due to the stipulation that it didn’t contain a clause that would protect the mother’s life. It’s simple to see that Obama clearly values the life of the individual and trusts women to make their own decisions concerning their body. McCain remains a stark supporter of pro-life. He believes that abortion should only be legal only if the pregnancy is due to rape, incest, or if the mother’s life is in jeopardy. In August of 1999 McCain said “I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in American to undergo illegal and dangerous operations.” Then in February 2007 he went on to say “I do not support Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision and must be overturned” Which was a clear flip flop from his previous statement. McCain would also fight any use of federal money for public funding of abortions or organizations that perform them. He also voted NO to an amendment during the 2006 Fiscal year budget that would allocate $100 million for funding to reduce teen pregnancy through the use of education and contraceptives. McCain is clearly against such groups such as Planned Parenthood who offer education and support for the youth. The facts are clear and ultimately it is up to use to decide which leader will
What are some career options for someone joining the workforce after a gap of ten years? My sister has a diploma in software and used to work as a trainer teaching computer skills to employees of large corporations. This was ten years ago in India. Then she got married, moved to the USA, and became a stay-at-home mom. Now she wants to get an education and go back to the workforce. She intends to continue living in the States. What are some good career options for her? Thank you for any ideas. She is open to switching fields, need not be computer related jobs.
