Have you ever taken a career assessment test? I recently took a career assessment test at my college (I'm an alumni) to realign my interests and goals. When I took the test, I discovered that I was a more artistic or creative type of person. This does hold true because I like creative writing/journaling and I recently got interested in photography and graphic/web design. But on the flip side, I am also technical, like working with computers. I am still having a hard time choosing which career to go into.
What is the best career assessment test? I am wondering if there are better career assessment tests than others. I'm considering trying to make a career change but would like to feel more confident about doing so, in addition to finding some direction in regards to what area I might thrive. Any help would be most appreciated. I should clarify-- what is the best FREE career assessment test. I love the idea of meyers briggs and jist, however I can't afford to purchase those tests at this time. Many thanks!
Is there a good on-line free career assessment test out there? Please none of those silly "like" or "dislike" tests. They get on my nerves and aren't very accurate. (I've taken so many of those types of tests and all came out with different results.) I took a test that was really accurate and also gave me results of my learning style, what majors I should consider, what type of worker I am, etc. but I lost the website......please help.....! For Dana: tests like that probably work for you but for me, I'm picky. I want a test that will match my personality, work style, etc. with the perfect career. Those tests are good with finding your personality but they aren't the best for matching both interests and skills/abilities. But thanks anyways...!
Anybody else have problems taking career assessment tests? I think I may be going crazy. I graduated in May with a degree in Social Work, but I am not sure if I want to work in that field. I have been applying for jobs in that field, but I haven't had any luck. I have been thinking of going back to school to major in something else, the only problem is I can't figure what I should major in. It seems like I am constantly changing my mind. Some of the things I have considered are teaching political science, becoming a lawyer, and now I am thinking of becoming a pharmacist. I probably should take a career assessment test, but I have problems with them because I think I lie on them. I don't do it on purpose, but I often answer questions based on the person I think I would like to be rather than who I actually am. I think that's how social work popped up as a result. Actually I do not really know myself at all even though I am constantly trying to figure it out. Anyone else struggle with this. Anyone have any suggestions?
Career Assessment Test Help!!? I just took a career assessment test from an austrailian website and I found it to be extremely helpful because it help to confirm my areas of interests. According to the test the jobs that I may enjoy the most are those that involve helping and people. Some of the occupations that appealed to me the most were welfare community service worker, child care worker, and kindergarten and preschool teachers. When I analyzed the tasks under each of these occupations I found that I would enjoy doing just about all of the tasks under child care worker and kindergarten and preschool teacher. I also found that I would enjoy doing all of the tasks under welfare and community service worker except for the tasks which involved having to provide short term crisis counseling to victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and disasters. I am graduating in Jan. with an A.S. in human services and I don't want to get the B.S. in human services. but should I really listen to the results of this test?

I need to study for the career programs assessment test (CPAT exam) but I can't seem to find a study guide or book with any practice test or info anywhere. The makers of the test(the same maker of the ACT exam)have made no study guide for the test THEY INVENTED. I must take this test test to get into a school for nursing Do you know of anywhere I can buy a study guide or book of practice test/information since the people from ACT are unwilling to?
Looking for a great Career assessment test? I simply can not decide what to do next. I have a BS degree in Sociology... and a Paralegal certificate as well. It's gotten me jobs as an Administrative Assistant. (glorified receptionist). Yes, I am glad to have a job, but I am BORED BORED BORED. My boredom is leading to laziness. Did I mention that I am bored? I do try to look for Paralegal work, but they all want experience, but I can't get experience while wasting in an administrative assistant job. I want to figure out a few things... such as.. if I go for a higher degree will I have the same problem? Or would it actually afford me more opportunities? Some things I am considering are Law School.... Masters in Human Resources.... or without the higher degree... teaching... or computers. But I can't decide. All of the above interest me. But I don't want to find myself stuck again. I want to figure out what I will be good at doing... and will not bore me to tears. I am already 34, married, and a mommy.
good career assessment? I am trying to find a good career assessment test. I don't mind if it's free or if i have to pay for it. I just want to know names of some good ones. Preferably I would like to take one that doesn't require you to choose which work activities you like most and which you like least from a group of 3 activities. I suck on those and have a hard time choosing.
Career Assessment Tests? Is there a really good website where you can take a test to find out which job you would be really good at?
Career ideas that combine bachelor degrees in biology and psychology with an interest in health/fitness? I am one class away from completing my degree in biology, and a few classes from my psychology degree. I have a lot of interest in the psychology of learning, as well as health and fitness. (I love working out.) I would really like to find a career that combines these interests, but my advisors at college, as well as other professors, family and friends don't have any ideas. I have taken some career assessment tests on computers, but they require you to pick only one major of interest. And I would really like to do something that makes a difference, where I can see that I'm helping people. I don't want to sit behind a desk. I need action and variety. Anyone have any ideas?

Which Career is Best for me? Yes, I know a lot of you initially want to say "What ever you like to do" or "What you enjoy." I don’t want to hear any of this. Essentially I am searching for a job title or field that utilizes the skills I have which are excellent writing, communication, people and leadership skills. I have taken those Online Career Assessment tests but they have turned up to be not much help. Anyhow, any ideas?
What would I need to major in if I wanted to become a speech pathologist? In response to a question I posted earlier regarding a career assessment test that I had taken someone suggested that I should become a speech pathologist and that I would like it but they didn't say what program of study this occupation falls under and whether or not such occupation requires a Master's degree I imagine it probably does though. thanks for your help!

I need advice with a career choice...? I will graduate from college next month with a degree in comp. science. For some reason, a few months ago, I seem to have lost interest in my major even though I still like computers. I've had other majors in the past, like accounting & computer engineering & had considered library science. I took a career assessment test recently, & it said I'm better off having a career in industrial arts, science, and clerical work. I've looked up industrial arts online but can't really find anything. Any advice on what type of career I should have? I feel bad because I'm this far along in school & still not completely sure. Some of my interests include computers; forensics (BIG CourtTV fan); French; math; working with my hands & machines; writing. I prefer not to do social work/ work with the public.

Which job should I choose while I make a career change? I'm in the process of changing careers from city planner to holistic health care and I plan on starting with massage therapy. I'm making this change because my personality type just does not work well in a business office environment. After taking a few personality/career assessment tests I've determined that I should be in a career where I can work one-on-one with people who need physical and/or physical care. I still need to make money while I transition. However, I'm staying with my mom while I go back to school so I don't have to pay many bills. My job options are 1) Do some short-term/high-paying work for FEMA where I could save money before going back to school full-time and then get a part-time job, while I'm in school, doing something related to my interests. Or 2) work for the Fed government full-time while going to school full-time at night. Which, sounds terrible to me but then again I'd have steady pay and good benefits (but when would I sleep or study?).
CAREER HELP??? People Person......? So I have no idea what I want to do in life. I have taken the career test and assessment test but still have no direction. I am a people's person and love to give and help anyway I can. I don't want to be a doctor, cop or teacher. Any ideas? I have thought about a guidance counselor for h/s but they don't make any money, so now I'm leaning towards a social worker or adoption person to give kids help and homes. HELP!!! Thanks!
What should I do for a living? I am 24 years old. I have a bachelor's degree in general studies and I concentrated in music, business, and art. I don't really like school but I will go back if I need to. According to those career assessment tests, I should be in financing but that just sounds incredibly boring. I want a decent paying job that is fun and respectable! Any ideas on what I careers I should look into?
Which high-paying professions require the least amount of human interaction? Seemingly every job in today’s service-based economy entails dealing with people around-the-clock. Even my current occupation, which my old college career counselor said would be “the perfect fit” for me (after I took one of those career assessment tests), entails a lot more human interaction than I had originally anticipated. Introverted since day one of kindergarten, I absolutely loathe dealing with people – especially rude, inconsiderate people, whom I encounter almost on a daily basis. While I am not considering a career change just yet, I am uncertain as to whether I want to continue down this career path for the next forty years. Ideally, I would like to work in a research-oriented profession that does not involve giving lectures or speeches, conducting interviews, or working in teams. My academic interests include, but are not limited to: astronomy, meteorology, topography, climatology, zoology, ecology, geology, geography, archaeology, and history. Thank you for your time.
How do you finally figure out what you are meant to do in life? I want to start my career and be happy with it I've been playing basketball all my life and now I am not sure what I want to do after that. I was a good student and I made good grades but I do not know what interests me, like truly interests me. I haven't a clue, not one. I feel stagnant. I am ready to start my life and I don't know which way to go. I wanted to model, I wanted to be a chef, I wanted to coach, I just do not know. I am unsure. I have tried assessment tests but without much further direction. HELP!!! I also have already completed a bachelor's degree although I feel like I do NOT want to go into sales. I have a BBA in Marketing.
Having a talk with my new boss today? I have a new boss, i'm his only direct report. I am in a support type of role right now, he's new to the dept has big plans for it and he wants me to help him. I think this could be a really good opportunity for me...but i really dont have a full understanding of what is going on. He is having me do career assessment tests, wants to what i like, where i want to go...i dont know! i want to move up and make up more money...i just dont know what exactly my passion is...i'm going to be 29...

Tutoring Services? My boyfriend needs help educationally. He had a career assessment test performed and part of the test results stated that his reading and math level were on the second grade level. He graduated from special education and does not have much work experience. He wants to attend college. His vocational counselor suggested remedial courses, but having been in a college environment, he knows that they can only tutor students for one hour at a time and my boyfriend with his comprehension level needs about 4-5 hours a day. Can anyone suggest any tutoring services that can tutor a person for 4-5 hours a day.
What should I do? I'm really really confused and I could take a career assessment test but it's 200.00 where I live... I'm nineteen years old and I love animals but Vet Tech's only make 10.00 an hour. Whereas if I became a Dental Assistant I could possibly be looking at more than 10.00 and I'd have job stability probably. But my real passion is animals. What would be best to do? Go to school to be a Vet Tech or do the Dental thing?
Biology/Genetics vs Law? I love both, I just can't decide... About me: - I hate sitting all day - I love arguing and am very good at it (although some people can get annoyed at how argumentative I am) - I had a 110% in my biology class (my favorite part being genetics) - I'm good at math, but I absolutely HATE IT - When I took the career assessment test in high school, it told me I should be a Genetics Counselor... but I don't even know anything about being a genetics counselor... and is there anything else I can pursue in the genetics area besides becoming a counselor? - I feel if I become a lawyer I can: 1) Grow further and maybe work for the government in the Supreme Court and 2) Do more good for the United States than if I just researched genetics Please give me your advice! Thank you! P.S. If you have any advice on going into either subject, please feel free to advise! =]
which career is good for me? what is a good website to go to for assessment tests? I want the ones where it tells you a career not just the things you are most interested in...i already know that stuff.

PLEASE HELP: I need your opinions.? Originally I was intending to become a business major. My career assessment tests pointed me in that area as well. I am currently a freshmen in a college 5 hrs away from my house. Here, I am thinking about doing a major in Intercultural Communications and Spanish. Next semester, I have the ability to go to Mexico for FREE the entire semester. But again, I was intending to major in Business. I can't do Business at this college because I am only of average intelligence. The business teachers here are absolutely awful so I would transfer back to a college near my house. Oh, at my current college I work on statistical programs and this could be very useful in the future. But, I probably won't be able to do this if I go back home because there are few opportunities there. What would you do?
What are some good top notch careers in the fashion or music business? I took an assessment test and it says i would be good at management/ entrepeneurship/ceo etc. The thing is, I love music, its my passion. Same with fashion design. Anyone know any careers in either of those fields having to do with management/ceo etc, and the stepping stones to get there???
Lost and confused.? I have a degree in accounting and I like the subject, but I can't cope with the long working hours and stress in this profession. I stayed in this field for 1 year and then I started temping for another year. I thought that I will find my direction but I end up more confused than ever. I can't find a job that keeps my interest for more than 6 months! I feel like I have wasted my degree and I am so lost with my life. Approaching 30 with no stable job makes me unsettled and uncertain about my future. My friends are all in managerial positions and I am still a junior executive. How long can I keep things going like that?! I think I have a problem but I don't know what and how to tackle it. I have done career counselling and assessment tests and I know I have to figure out what I want with my life. I have done it all and that does not help! I feel like giving up! Yes, call me a whiner if you must but that is not going to help. I really need some advice, please! :'-( Avoidance mode....how can I switch mode? And thanks, eric, for telling me you are not my mummy! :-P (haha, but i appreciate that you reply, thanks, really.)
Should I take a semester off of school? I got a year left to graduate, but I'm unsure about my major. I am "business management" but I don't like any of my business classes. The good thing so far is that I could declare accounting, marketing, or something else in the field and still graduate in a year. I have no idea what my passion is but I am a good writer so I was thinking about switching to Journalism. What should I do misc? I've already signed up for my business classes but I can drop them now (and since school hasn't started, I don't owe anything). If I switch to something instead of business then I'll graduate in 2 years. I guess I'm just frustrated because I don't know what I'll be doing in the future. I wish I knew what I was passionate about but I have no idea. I took a self assessment test at the career center and I'm still waiting on the results. School isn't hard for me, I make good grades. Help?
Suggestions on College Majors? I'm a college JUNIOR who has no idea what to do I have tested every major under the sun. I have gone from a History, Physiology, Psychology, Nursing, Premed, PrePharm, CIS/CS, Math, English.. I couldn't find anything that I wanted to do with those, so my folks said major in Business Management and that can open doors for me. I just don't want to be a lummy working for a company to increase sales (IE Blockbuster, Chili's, Etc). I'd like to use my creativity and mind. I have always aspired to be some sort of teacher but with no subject or topic. I feel like I've failed because my GPA isn't perfect (3.5) and I don't have a major. Where do I turn? I've been to college assessment assistants and what not and career profile books. What else is out there?
So what do you think of this? Are you surprised? Just received this email and thought this ... Just received this email and thought this group might find it interesting. I don't know anything about the research group, but I have a growing respect for them: DID WE WONDER WHO HAS THE LOWEST IQ? Report published Monday, by the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania, detailed its findings of a four month study of the intelligence quotient of President George W. Bush. Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has publishedits research to the educational community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others. There have been twelve presidents over the past 50 years, from F. D. Roosevelt to G.W. Bush, who were rated based on scholarly achievements: Writings that they produced without aid of staff. Their ability to speak with clarity, and several other psychological factors, which were then scored using the Swanson/Crain System of intelligence ranking. The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points. In order by presidential term: Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D] 142, Harry S Truman [D] 132, Dwight David Eisenhower [R] 122 John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D] 174, Lyndon Baines Johnson [D] 126, Richard Milhous Nixon [R] 155, Gerald R. Ford [R] 121, James Earle Carter [D] 175, Ronald Wilson Reagan [R] 105 George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 98, WilliamJefferson Clinton [D] 182, George Walker Bush [R] 91 In order of IQ rating: 182 . William Jefferson Clinton [D] 175 . James Earle Carter [D] 174 . John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D] 155 . Richard Milhous Nixon [R] 147 . Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D] 132 . Harry S Truman [D] 126 . Lyndon Baines Johnson [D] 122 . Dwight David Eisenhower [R] 121 . Gerald R. Ford [R] 105 . Ronald Wilson Reagan [R] 098 George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 091 . George Walker Bush [R] The six Republican presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 115.5, with President Nixon having the highest at 155. President George W.Bush rated the lowest of all the Republicans with an IQ of 91. The six Democratic presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 156, with President Clinton having the highest IQ, at 182. President Lyndon B. Johnson was rated the lowest of all the Democrats with an IQ of126. No president other than Carter [D] has released his actual IQ (176). Note the institute measured him at 175. Among comments made concerning the specific testing of President G.W.Bush, his low ratings are due to his apparently difficult command of the English language in public statements, his limited use of vocabulary 6,500 words for Bush versus an average of 11,000 words for other presidents, his lack of scholarly achievements other than a basic MBA, and an absence of any body of work which could be studied on an intellectual basis. The complete report documents the methods and procedures used to arrive at these ratings, including depth of sentence structure and voice stress confidence analysis. All the Presidents prior to George W. Bush had a least one book under their belt, and most had written several white papers during their education or early careers. Not so with President Bush," Dr. Lovenstein said. "He has no published works or writings, which made it more difficult to arrive at an assessment. We relied more heavily on transcripts of his unscripted public speaking. The Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania think tank includes high caliber historians, psychiatrists, sociologists, scientists in human behavior, and psychologists. Among their ranks are Dr. Werner R. Lovenstein, world-renowned sociologist, and Professor Patricia F.Dilliams, a world-respected psychiatrist. For more information on the Lovenstein Institute, go to lovenstein.org The smartest president didn't know enough to keep his pants zipped and the dumbest one thinks he can run a war. GO FIGURE!!!
Free career skill assessments...I NEED THEM!? My last post didn't receive many answers but I'm still trying... I need pre-employement assessments for all job areas (IT, accounting, sales etc), and I just CAN'T afford to purchase existing products on the market since most of them cost at least $40 EACH. And the free ones only relate to personality tests which aren't industry-specific enough. So......
should 4th year high school take up NCAE? NCAE stands for National Career Assessment Examination it is a test for aims to determine the best career options for the graduating high school students based on their own skills and propensity towards various fields of interest.
Starting a new career at age 34...this is so hard. Please help!? I have been a professional Singer/musician all of my life. Now, at the age of 34, I am attempting to make a career change mostly because I need the stability, as well as the long term security and health benefits that being a musician has never provided me with. I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent person, however, I never graduated from college...High school degree apparently isn't cutting it for any kind of job with decent pay and benefits. Do I really have to start at the bottom ...somewhere like a retail position at the mall or a fast food restaurant at my age? I've tried waiting tables already and I was terrible at it. Stay in school people or this could happen to you! I have basic office skills...type 40 wpm, which I know is quite slow to be considered for a data entry or secretary position...right? I tried for a bookkeeping position but I am such a bad test taker (anxiety takes over) that I did poorly on the math assessment portion. What else can I do? HELP!
How does one find purpose/goal without interests or desires? Hi. First, to clear a few things. Yes, i have had a decade history of schizoid pd, depression, anxiety, narsassitic pd, dysthemia (hard for pyschatrists to pin point, my point i guess for not being able to fully articulate my situation). Yes, i have taken different assessment tests to on issues of career, mental state, etc (not just the online tests) without any insight. Yes, i have tried govt services for mental health occupation issues (they gave me the tests and set me up with service that placed me at a job within one day, no attempt at figuring out issues ... took the job at the time for economic reasons. No, i couldn't go back to school at the time since i had intentionally defaulted a loan to dq myself from any finanical aid, back when i was fully suicidal (not now, though admit still have an ideation for it). Okay, so, how can one find purpose or goals without interests or desire, and without the resources of family or friends (any help is grateful).
