How did you choose which career to pursue? (Please answer, I need some honest guidance.)? I ask because I'm a high school freshman about to choose both high school and college classes that will count for big time credits. I need some wisdom from an adult. I may not sound like it, but I'm getting really desperate. A high school freshman without a life plan is unheard of now-a-days. If it helps, my career will either be in arts or philosophy. How did you choose? Was it hard? How did you narrow it down? Anything helps. Thanks.
Career guidance needed...? I am trying to decide which career direction to pursue.... My background- I am 30 yrs old, and currently a bar manager, which I dislike. I graduated college with a degree in business/entrepreneurship concentration and would love to own a small business, yet do not have the capital needed. My passions include any and everything about travel (planning, researching, etc). If there was any money to be made, I would love being a travel agent. I enjoy all aspects of planning things (my wedding, financial etc). Sorry this is so rambling, but does anyone have any suggestions for me? Or any small businesses/franchises that I could start with little capital? I'd appreciate it!
i need career guidance? im planning to specialize in finance im curretly pursuing cima planning to pursue the actuary course with specialisation in finance and the CFA charter how well are the three related will i be specialised in the finance field .?

Psychic guidance needed! About Career choice, Major decision, Future. Pre-Med student!? Currently I am planning on majoring in genetics. I am in school for pre-med, I am starting my first year at Arizona State this fall, and am meeting an academic advisor based on my major(this Friday). I need guidance as to what major I should pursue. I enjoy helping people, and am passionate about global economics. I plan on becoming a Doctor, but I have no idea as to what field I want to get in to. I am 18 born in July (in California). Female and my sign is a Leo. Med schools favor applicants with a major outside of the science category, and this is why I am unsure of whether to major in genetics, or to major in economics. What medical field would I most enjoy and excell at? Or should I not even bother with pre-med because becoming a Doctor is not in my future? What med school will accept me? How will my undergraduate academics go? Any help at all for my career and future is greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time!

How do I become a guidance counselor? I think, if my other plans dont work out, I want to become a guidance counsler. I have been told that i give good advice and am good at helping people out with their plans and goals. I would want to just do high school, to help with college planning and examining test scores and the types of students. I dont know if I would want to deal with a lot of emotional stuff, I may be better at it when I am older. But what type of school do you go to and what type of education is necessary? What are some specific majors in the field that would take me directly to that career? Thanks.

put theses work cited entries in alphabetical order? I am a little bit confused about how to arrange these entries in oreder, because not every single one of them has an author. Career or baby? I am 29, I have a very good career that is on the rise. I would like to be a young mum and my husband and I planned on starting a family next year. However, I have been offered a promotion and relocation, as a consequence I will not be able to start a family for 2 years, (this is not an option) therefore I will have my first at 32/33. I have read that 28/29 is an ideal age to have a baby and stress contributes to infertility ( I work in a stressful industry). I do not want to risk having difficulties in getting pregnant, but I have worked very hard to be in the position I am in today, I am good at what I do and I take pride in my job and I do not want to have any regrets. I work in a male dominated industry in which it would be very hard to climb up the ladder if I have a baby, it is tough enough when you reach a certain age and get married. Are there any other women in a similar situation that can offer me some guidance? To answer your questions: I have had irregular periods and cysts in the past. Plus my mother could not conceive after 30 and my grandmother had a couple of miscarraiges, and there is the debate of fertility being genetic or not. I go to my Gynecologist on a yearly basis and have all the fertility blood tests... I am in good shape and eat healthily. My husband would like to start a family next year but also enjoys the lifestyle of it being just the two of us. This is the point we have great careers, earn great money and have a great lifestyle, this will go for me one day and I don't mind this. But I am ambitious and I still feel there is more I want to achieve for me with out regrets. Given the hours and stress our careers demand, I could not continue on the same path and have a family.
What is the best way & smoothest transition from a career in IT into one in core finance. Not the IT side of it I have done engineering in computer science.I want to make a shift in my career as smoothly as possible without letting my work experience of 8 months in an IT firm go to a total waste.I have been working with a financial client all this while so i have some know how of the domain.I plan to pursue my MBA in due course of time(another 1-2 yrs) so i would like to use the time from now onwards in the best way possible without letting my education and experience in IT to go to a total waste. I am passionate about the idea of an MBA in marketing as well.So any ideas/guidance on how to go about changing over into that stream with a relevant work experience that i can gather for my MBA would be really great too.Again,it would really help if i dont end up wasting my work experience totally. PLease give your suggestions/ideas.You could be a lifesaver.I am really confused. Thanks.
Is High-School Physics required as a path to be a doctor or medical career? I took Grade 10 Science Academic in The summer before grade 10 So i'm currently taking Grade 11 biology - University level. I plan to be either a doctor, or an accountant... Still undecided however for my grade 11 courses, is physics required to be a doctor? Here are my courses for grade 11 =0 Our school is term- which sucks... I prefer semester tho =S Eng - University 11 Math - University 11 Exercise Science - University Grade 12 (Like Biology) Chemistry - University 11 Biology - University 12 Computer Graphics - 11 Gym Fitness Accounting - University 11 However I made plans in the summer, probably going to take accounting in the summer... Or Biology 12... Or both... So I'm probably going to have my guidance counsellor swap out accounting for physics if needed for next years timetable Also is it a good idea to have Biology 12 taken in summer school? The final most important Question... IS PHYSICS NEEDED TO BECOME DOCTOR OR A MEDICAL CAREER

Can I get into Purdue University? I'm applying to Purdue hoping to get into the engineering program GPA overall 3.2 ...my early HS years are the reason for the low GPA...since late sophomore there has been obvious improvement .the GPA is unweighted Senior year courses: -AP calculus (only AP course available in the school) -Physics -Foreign language (Arabic), and Political Science in concurrent enrollment (.5 credit for each) -English literature -English composition, and career guidance (concurrent enrollment) -Physical Education -Social Science these courses are pretty much the only ones available other than a few more (its a small school), which is why i couldn't take more courses to do with engineering. my SAT is 1730 (math 600, CR 550, writing 580) i'm planning to do the SAT subject tests in math 1 in January (will they consider it since its not required?) I have 3 letters of recommendation and was involved in a number of extra curricular activities.. school does not rank students Can I get in?
Best book to prepare your "not going to college" child to "college bound"? I have a 14 & 15 year old and I know it's late but I'd like to dedicate their last years of school preparing them for college. Is there a phase by phase book or online website I could refer to? I just need to know what they should know at each grade level, how to strengthen their weak areas, how to motivate so they will want to excel, how to find out what they're insterested in (career tests?), activities to keep their brain sharp, exercises/tests I can use to teach them...basically how to raise smart kids. Anything that could give me step by step advice that I could plan out each day/week would be great. Patricularly, my son is not that interested in college but I think with a little guidance, he would change his mind. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for any and all advice!

Is it possible to make a career of terrible parenting? Did you all know that the field of mental health enables entire families to remain on the dole, 18 years at a time? SSI recognizes ADHD as a disability in some cases. If the parent reads up a little, they can present symptoms that lead the incompetent therapist to give their child a Bipolar Disorder diagnosis. Once that happens, the family has income and services until that child is an adult. A family that plans well, will make sure they have kids, even when they are into their 40's. To trick the therapists, the parents neglect their kids, raise them in chaos, and offer no guidance on standards of conduct. Once that child enters the therapists office, he'll believe what the parents tell him. Once the child is in school, IEP's and no expectation of any normal performance. I know, many of you would never sacrafice your children in this way, but many don't have any qualms about it.
I am looking to getting into selling Timeshares...? and plan to move to the Myrtle Beach, Sc area after the first of the year. Does anyone have any idea what requirements there are to become a timeshare salesperson. I do have considerable sales experience in Insurance as well as a customer service degree from our local community college. I am quite excited at the thought of starting a new career on this path and any thoughts, guidance, leads, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! OK< any alternatives for me if I am looking to get into sales and am desperate to move to the beach?
Would you submit your job resignation prior to a possible job offer? I am really distressed at work. Received a not a great appraisal. Project pulled from my hands to another person. I'm being offered a 2nd chance to perform better under my supervisor's guidance. Honestly, I want to quit anyway. Finances not a major issue. But a nice time off would be nice to contemplate a 5 year plan for career change. Hate what I do, but desperately want to quit. My instincts have have pushed close to giving my resignation letter. I did interview in case I get the job, but don't know until today.
I am really confused....? I want to have something that has to do with psychology as my career, but my school doesn't have a course for that. So, I asked my teacher to help me choose the courses I need for next year, and she recommended the following: Health Care Co-op in the Medical Field Exercise Science But, today when I asked my guidance councilor, she recommended this: Chemistry Biology Math Which courses should I choose for next year? I am really confused? And I still don't know what I am planning to have as my career.
computer and electronics engineers plz....? hello and thank you for looking into this question. actually i had some plans for my future career. Currently i am doing Bachelor's of Computer Engineering. At different sites CE is defined as Engineer who's focus is less on Power electronics. Keeping this definition in mind I thought after BCE i can go for Masters in Mircroelectronics and do the same job as Electronics engineers do (designing electronic circuits and electronic devices such as chips and transistor etc.). I just need some guidance from you guys. Do you seem to find any thing wrong with my plan for future. is it ok for me to go for masters in microelectronics? or should i go for masters in electronics engineering? which one do you find better. thanks alot

Choosing a school, can my boyfriend be a small factor? My boyfriend and I are both trying to figure out where we'll be going to school next year, after high school. He's considering Cornell, Northwestern, Columbia, and a few other non-Ivy League schools in the northeast and midwest. I plan to study general psychology, and then move on to a master's program in educational psychology, with the career goal of becoming a guidance counselor. I am pretty sure I want to do my master's at Indiana University. However, where to go for my first four years of school is still a mystery to me. I was thinking about applying to a few schools that I like in all of the different areas that my boyfriend's choices are in, so that we could be within, at the most, 3-4 hours apart. I have found two schools in NY, a school in PA, and three schools in IL, all of which would possibly be within a few hours of a school he may go to. Do you think it's wrong to make a decision based on the distance from him? Because where I go for my bachelor's doesn't matter to me... the only thing that matters to me is that I go to IU for my master's. That's the important part, so it shouldn't make a difference where I go first, right? Agh. I'm thinking this might be dumb. But I've been best friends with him since seventh grade, and we've been dating since the middle of ninth. He has also expressed interest in choosing a school close to me, however, I don't have as much of a preference for certain schools as he does. So what do you think?
Career Path Advice.? My background: English Undergrad, Minor in Business. One year as a marketing assistant and one year in outside sales. My Plans are: To finish this year out and go into MBA full or part time. My Question is: what field should I go into? I would prefer something 'project based' that does not rely on outisde forces. Ie , sales relies on outiside forces directly, but supply chain managment does not. Sales really drives me crazy and I feel like I work very hard and am not getting much pay off. Although my heart is into doing my best and being a good guy, I don't feel like I am going to "Win" too often. It is disheartening and I'm looking for a change. Sales is Terrific experience, but can anyone recomend an alternate field or maybe some guidance on how to find out what field would be best for me?
job questions? for guidance class. (be specific. like say your a secretary dont say you shuffle papers) 1. who are you?(optional) 2. what do you do? 3. how long have you been doing it? 4. any special "paper" requirements? (degrees ect.) 5. whats a normal day at your job? 6. whats rewarding about your job? 7. whats hard about it/ what do you dislike about it? 8. is your job just a stepping stone or your career choice? 9. how did you get the job? 10. do you plan to stay at your job? why or why not? 11. would you recommend the job to others?
A question for my Christian friends--wealth? I firmly believe that as a Christian, one is supposed to live only on what is necessary, without extra luxuries. I also believe that, through prayer and guidance, I will be able to find a place where I fit in to God's kingdom as part of His plan here on the earth. Since Christians are needed in all fields and jobs, I have been led to consider the career as an Orthodontist. I am quite ambitious and can do the job, plus the extra money can go to a Christian organization of my choice if my family and I live only on what is necessary. So recently these views of mine have been challenged by a few of my closest Christian relations: My elder friend, my best friend's parents, and my preacher. Let me explain. My elder friend is in her forties and has a good family. Her husband is well-established in the engineering business and receives a large salary. She is the middle school youth minister at my large church and is known to be a very righteous and caring person, always seeming to know the best answer to everything. However, her house and its furnishing is over 300,000 dollars. It's off the charts. My best friend is the one I go to if I'm having troubles or if I need prayer. She is very religious. A few weeks ago she invited me over to her parents' house for dinner. Her parents are very religious, bringing up their daughter with good morals and guidance. However, they just built a custom-designed house that cost them over 350,000 dollars with over 6000 square feet of space. The furnishing was magnificent and beautiful; however, I felt very out of place. I go to the largest and best church in town, a non-denominational Christian church with over 2000 members. Recently I went over to my preacher's house. You can imagine what I will say next. His house was in a rich neighborhood and was furnished for what looked like over 200,000 dollars, the house itself costing 200,000 as well. At that point I didn't know what to do. I understand that Jesus urges his disciples to live by faith and not by sight. Considering everything I mentioned above, what is a Christian to do with his extra finances? Is "the more I make the more I will be able to donate" a figuring factor when choosing a career? Earthly comfort is something looked down upon in the Bible, so how do these people justify their purchases? Is there something I'm missing? Please help!

Silly Question.. Has nothing to do with my life plans :P [] My question is what does it take to be a guidance councillor.. For a high school/college/university. I will be pursing a career as in criminal justice (Law Enforcement) but I thought maybe through college/university co-op.. or work before I actually am a sworn in Constable, that I could work as a guidance councillor. Now their jobs.. don’t really have a description like degree in that.. Diploma in this.. So I was just curious to know.. I wish I would of asked my guidance councillor before the summer.. But if my answer doesn’t come along I’ll make sure to ask. Their sooooo helpful, and the way they plan and help people with their future plans in life is inspiring, to me at the least. Thxxxs. Comment/Advice all appreciated :P
what colleges and major will be good for a writing lover? please help.? I am a sr in HS and am in love w/ writing, & for years planned on majoring in creative writing until I realized the impracticality in it. Now I am planning on double majoring in English and Speech Communications &Rhetoric, because I feel Communications will give me a better chance of finding a job later on (my biggest fear)? I just don't know what career I want to persue. My dream would be to write for a magazine, but I despise journalism--thus majoring in it would kill me. I hate feeling stifled in writing & hate politics/news. What careers would suit that and how do I go about finding them and interning in them? I also need to find a college with an amazing undergraduate English program, as well as a communications major--if that is even good for me to major in?--so I can persue both. I am thinking going to school around a major city would provide the best job oppurtunities for writing right? I know I want to write, I just don't know where or how...i need guidance..please I forgot to ask if anyone knew some great colleges for me? Preferably around a bigger city?
Are high school seniors prepared for college? College Survey Given to High School Seniors Startling results were found after a survey about college was given to seniors enrolled in Watkins Glen High School in late October. The survey focused on whether students wanted to go to college, the role finances play, how prepared students felt, if they had taken standardized tests, if they had visited any colleges or shadowed any careers, if College Information Day at Arnot Mall was helpful, whether students knew where they wanted to go to college, and whether they have chosen a major. All together 25 students were surveyed, about a quarter of the entire senior class. This is a critical time for most seniors as they are busy applying to colleges and planning their futures. Results show students may not be as ready as they need to be and may not be prepared enough for college decisions by the time they’re seniors. Results show that 96% of the high school seniors want to go to college. On the other hand, 56% haven’t shadowed any careers of interest and 32% haven’t even visited any colleges. These results explain why 36% don’t know what they want to major in when they go to college and why 36% don’t know where they want to go college. At this critical stage for applying to college, many students are behind. Many students are also behind in taking standardized tests required for entry to most colleges. For example, 48% of students haven’t taken the ACTs and 12% still haven’t taken the SATs. Many college students and educators recommend taking the SATs and/or ACTs before your senior year of high school. When asked if students felt prepared for college, a shocking 16% indicated that they didn’t feel prepared at all. Most of the seniors, at 68%, felt semi prepared; and only 16% did feel prepared. This shows that there are as many students that don’t feel prepared as those who do feel prepared. Not one senior stated that they felt very prepared for college. High schools may need to take more steps to make students feel prepared for college by the time they’re seniors. As mentioned earlier, 96% of high school seniors at Watkins Glen High School want to go to college. However, over half of the students surveyed, 52 % of them to be exact, stated that finances are a factor as to whether they go to college. Money therefore may be what keeps students from receiving the education they need to pursue their goals. In the survey, the seniors were asked whether College Information Day held at Arnot Mall was helpful. Results show that 48% of the seniors indicated that it was helpful. On the other hand, 16% stated that they didn’t go. If the high school made a better effort to make students aware of these helpful opportunities and make sure that they attend, more students may feel more prepared and better able to make college decisions. As a high school senior, I can comply with these results. I myself have been stressed over trying to make life long decisions about my future education. I wish my school had given me more guidance in my younger years as to thinking about the decisions I’m making now. I think all schools need to make students more aware of what’s to come as high school nears to an end and what they need to do to be ready. For example, looking back, I wish I knew to take the SATs early, start looking at colleges, and find majors of my interest.
To David--- Your answer/s has no relevence whatsoever to my question.
