How do you get into event and meeting planning as a career? My goal is to specialize in conventions, trade shows, and meetings however there are not too many college programs that offer this curriculum. I also want to get a CMP. Calling all meeting professionals how do you break into this field? Where do I submit my resumes? Tell me how to make myself marketable.
Planning a military/civilian career? I would like to join the Coast Guard Reserve. I would like to start attending the Coast Guard Academy at 18. After I graduate and my 5-year active duty is ended (possibly longer than 8 years, I want to apply for an engineering post-graduate program and also get a masters in engineering. I would like to also attend flight school and get Naval aviator wings) can I go back to reserve or another branch in the military (navy or air force) and keep the same rank? After rising to a rank of Lieutenant Commander/Major or higher, I plan on retiring from the military and pursuing a civilian career in aviation engineering. Is this a good career plan? I forgot: Am I still getting paid when I at the engineering post-graduate program and getting a masters in engineering? Do they count as additional years to my service? Can I get promoted during that time, or will I have to stay an Ensign?
What university in Oklahoma offers a good Behavorial science program good for a career in law enforcement? I've started back to college this year and want to have a career in the investigative field of law enforcement when I graduate. Right now I'm leaning toward majoring in psychology for lack of anything else related being offered by the local schools (in Tulsa) aside from criminal justice. I plan on taking some of the CJ couses as electives. Trying to determine if this is the correct path to take. I appreciate any and all advice.
Has anyone dealt with a program called College Consultant Group? Is it reliable or a scam? Program claims to assist with filing financial aid forms for college to maximize financial aid received. They also offer career planning, SAT prep, etc. You have to attend a free seminar and personal interview at a local hotel in our area. Website is www.collegeconsultantgroup.com. Just wondering if anyone has used this service, heard about it, etc. Of course, mailing and website offers no clue as to cost of program. If it were reputable, I'd be really interested, but I'm so skeptical of mailings I get. Thanks.
What jobs in the air force would get me started in a robotics career? I plan to move toward programming and robotics for my career, and I'm now planning to join the Air Force to help with my education. I'm just wondering which Air Force specialties would allow me to focus on these fields.
How to convince recruiters about a career change to Corporate Finance? I am an Industrial engineer and want to make a move to Corporate Finance, one of the questions I get most often is why do I want to make such a career change and how I see myself fit into this role ? or justify how you can do well in Corporate Finance role despite your non finance background? I am currently enrolled in a full time MBA program and planning to take finance courses but I want to know how I can really sell myself on this idea ?

Best Certified Finanical Planning Certificate Program? I'm transitioning careers to being a personal financial planner. I've got to choose a certification program - are distant learning programs credible? Is it better to have the classroom experience with other CFPs in the local area so I can network? Does reputation of program make any difference? Does Kaplan's RFP certification enable me to begin advising people right away? Have I asked too many questions yet??? Thanks.
Wondering if this sounds okay for career plan? I'm currently attending a university, and I hate it. I'm not looking to spend 4+ years in school. I want to transfer to the local community college for dental assisting, and since that program is pretty short, I want to get another cert for LPN. That way I'm able to choose between two in demand jobs.
Help with what careers i can go into by taking IT Management program at university? I'm really interested in business and computers all together. I am planning on applying for a program called IT management at university next year. I just want to know some of the jobs and careers it leads to. Also it would be helpful If someone can tell me what career pathways International Economics and Finance lead to. Thanks
Career prospects for 47 year old IT Analyst in the UK? Ive been working in IT development for over 25 years, mainly on large mainframe based systems in the telecoms sector. I have progressed my career from programming to business analysis/design and have used structured methodologies. My company has recently announced a series of outsourcing plans and has an active redundancy policy. I am therefore wondering what my future employment prospects are. I am especially worried as I am the wrong side of 40. Does anyone know how active the UK IT employment scene is, especially in the south east?
Helping my sister-in-law with career planning? To say the least, my sister-in-law is having issues with her career. She graduated with a B.S. in biochemistry (GPA 3.5) from a good state school, and worked for one year at an antibodies company. However, she is foreign, and did not obtain a work visa from that company. She could not find any other company to sponsor her. So she tried to apply to pharmacy school, but was rejected from everywhere she applied. It would be pretty difficult for her to return to Taiwan (where she is from) because her written Chinese skills are minimal (she came to the US as a small child). She has been living with her mom, taking classes to keep her student visa - but needless to say she is pretty miserable. She has spent a lot of time working on more applications for graduate programs (pharmacy and clinical research) for this coming year, and she is hoping to get accepted. However, my husband is not the most helpful to his sister - and unfortunately she doesn't seem to be able to do these... things on her own. I have been trying to think of types of grad school/professional school she should apply to since pharm didn't work out. I was thinking of things like optometry, dental, or physical therapy. Can anyone give me some insight on what would be approprate with her academic background and work experience? I am trying to help her our. (btw if it helps you know where I am coming from, I have a PhD in chemistry and a JD - I am a patent attorney focusing on biotech/pharma)
Gaining experience in the Wedding Planning career area? Can anyone tell me how I can find internships or even work for nothing in order to gain real-world experience as a wedding planner? I will be finishing up Penn Foster Online's bridal consulting certificate program in about a month. The program is more about the tactics of a wedding...costs, budgets, how ceremonies work etc. I can't just go find a job planning with no real life experience. I'm in the chicago area (about 50 miles) southwest) I'm also working on a degree in marketting at the local community college so maybe that will help?

Do anyone know anything about IIBF and their DBF program? I am pursuing MBA and came to know about IIBF and their DBF program. I am planning to do my specialization in HR(Major) and Finance(Minor). programming? Does this help me with a game design career? I have an A.S. in computer programming, and I am planning on pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, does this help me with a career in game design? I want to work for a company programming video games.
If i keep working with the old style IBM Universe database, is my programming career at a an end? I am a 25 year old programmer with a very promising career. I did extremely well in school and programming logic comes easily. Unfortunately the prospects of moving to modern technologies are slim. I work mainly with javascript and the pic style Basic databasic language. I have moved into a position of taking over a spin off company so my role is mainly programming and sales and business plans. I am looking for advice from someone with more experience than me as to whether or not i should continue here or move to a more modern company. Thanks in advance
How good is the CFA program conducted by ICFAI? I am planning to do CFA in ICFAI through self study method. How good and effective the program is in developing my career.
how good is Business administration certification for changing career in UC Berkeley Extension? I am planning to change my engineering career to business administration. I know MBA is probably the best way of changing career. But UC Berkeley Extension offers a Certificate program in Business Adminstration. How good would it be? I would like to know what weightage it carries when applying for jobs.
What career prospects are avialiable for a graduate trained as a patient care technican? Is programming a possible career without majoring or minoring in math at the undergraduate level? Allow me to introduce myself. I’m an idealistic, naïve, 11’Th grader. Still a kid, I know, but I’m starting to consider different subjects and possible careers that I’m interested in. I’m planning on taking additional courses on my own (possibly online) in those fields while I’m still in high school. I like US History, Writing, Economics, Philosophy, Theology, and Computer Science. I don’t particularly enjoy mathematics, however. Almost all the computer programmers I know love math and have either majored or minored in it in college. Would it be possible for me to pursue a career in Computer Science and only take required math courses in college? Is that feasible? Or is it the stupidest thing you ever heard? :) Helpful answers and constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.
Answering the "How will this summer research program help you with your career goals" Application Questions I'm applying to a handful of microbiology Research Experience for Undergraduates programs & they all want me to answer the above question. Many of the programs prefer students from universities without research opportunities. I have done undergraduate research at my university & I enjoy it (Which means I can't use the 'learning what academic research entails' response) My career goals are that I plan to go to graduate school & get my Ph.D in microbiology, do postdoctoral research somewhere, and then get a research/teaching faculty position. Naturally, I'm not looking for someone to write my essay for me, but I need some inspiration. If you answer & have had experience applying to these programs or are a professor, can you mention it? Thanks!
Questions about Computer Engineering/Programming. What career would best suit me? I'm planning on getting a Doctorate in either Computer Engineering, or Computer Programming (8 years plus, yay), or whatever I choose to become. I live in Chicago, IL, and for a little extra help, what collage do you think would be the best, concerning both price and quality of education. Here are a few general questions I have, to see what I would be getting into if I became a Computer Programmer or Engineer: 1) On an average day, what things do you do? 2) What things, both good and bad, do you encounter on a daily/weekly/monthly basis (i.e. reports, meetings, drills, courses, and other stuff)? 3) Are the hours always the same, or do they change abruptly (i.e. working from 8am to 5pm one week, then 2pm to 11pm the next)? The reason why I'm asking is that I'd love to just work from one time to the next time everyday, for a long time. Like 8am to 4pm everyday for a couple years. 4) How stressful, on a scale of 1 to 10, is a given day? I don’t want to be in my 30s with gray hairs, pulling my hair out. 5) Is the pay really as good as they say it is? I’m seeing $71k a year on some sites, and $80k+ on others. 6) In continuance from the question #5, how much does your education really affect your pay? Like I said, I’m planning on getting a Doctorate; how much more does a person with a doctorate get than a person with a Masters, Associates or Bachelors? I’m just curious about these jobs; I’d just love to do them. I’m just not a physical person, and I don’t like traveling far distances just for work; like taking planes to Phoenix to do this job for a week and whatnot. I don’t mind doing a very complicated job, as long as it’s steady. I would love to sit there and work my a** off for 10 hours a day, as long as I’m not going up and down stairs, and from location to location. I had an IQ of 153 when I got it tested as a sophomore 2 years ago, with my biggest points being mathematical patters and problem solving, so difficulty isn’t a problem. I guess I got a pretty good memory too; I memorized about 16 moves to solve the Rubik’s cube. Sorry for the showing off, I just want to know what career best fits me. I could care less how early I have to wake up, too. I’m hoping for my job to pay me an upwards of $50k a year. I absolutely love Science, like Space Science and Physics So what job do you think would best suit me?
How did you find a satisfying career, and how did you manage to succed in it? I'm an undergraduate on the dean's list at a relatively prestigious university. In a little more than a year, I'm faced with graduation, and I'm panicked because I need to start planning my next move now, be it a job in the private sector, a PhD program or professional grad school. I have a wide range of options, but I don't know what I want, only that whatever I do, I want to do it well. So for those of you out there that found a career that you enjoy, that you're good at, that's intellectually stimulating, that affords you independence, allows you to advance yourself, or that makes you feel good at the end of the day, tell me, how did you find it, and when did you know that you wanted to do it? How did you find inspiration? How did you find your passion? And how can I find mine? Responses from people who were in my shoes (ambitious, well educated, lots of options and potential) 5-15 years ago are particularly appreciated.
Can you do a massage therapist program online? I am studying to be an early childhood education teacher. But I have been told that most teachers have a side career too because teachers are still underpaid. I am debating whether I want to be a child psychologist on the side. I am also planning on earning a massage therapy license to practice massage on the side. Can you do a massage therapy program online? Do you have to attend school in person? Are online massage therapy classes available? Can I earn my massage therapy training and license online?I am hearing about so many programs offering online education.
Should I keep my boyfriend in mind when planning for my post college career? I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend for about two years now. He recently left the state to start his PhD on the west coast (US). Since then we've been visiting each other whenever we have the time. I'm also applying for a PhD, and I've been looking at programs both at the university he is attending and other schools relatively close to his university. But I'm wondering if I should be hindering myself by only considering schools that are close to where he is studying...some are prestigious, but most aren't. I'm mainly doing it so I could visit him more often or live with him if the schools are close enough together. But there are other good programs in other parts of the country that I'm not even considering. I'm wondering if I'll regret this in the future...as the reputation of the phd program could affect my career trajectory. On the other hand, a phd in my field would take about 7 years... so If we lived far apart, we'd hardly be able to see each other for at least 7 years.
What should I major in if I want a career in the video game design? Not nessecarily the programing aspect, but planning out the story, gameplay, mechanics, all that.
What career path does a BS in Liberal Arts or Communications prepare you for? I love these programs of study, but I do not know if they will really help me in my career goals. I am really looking for a degree that is versatile and will help me in a number of occupations. My main intrests are writing, persuading, business planning, and design. I love to work with people, but I also like to lead a group. I currently work as a sales manager, but I hate the office politics. I also dislike math and stressfull work envoirments. If anyone has any idea what program would be right for me, please let me know. I am open to any suggestions you might have! Thank you!
What is the best online Mortgage Brokerage Firm or Correspondent Lender to join as a new business career? I plan to start a career as a loan officer and want to do business primarily on the internet, from home, as well as get the training on-line and/or by phone. I'm thinking about joining either Apex Lending or Premier Mortgage. Trancontinental Lending Group is also an option. Anyone have feedback regarding these companies? I'm really leaning towards Apex Lending because I like the business structure, however there is a one-time $200 fee for purchasing software that allows you to run the business on the internet and from home. The software has the 1003 appl, credit score/info viewing, matches programs to client info, manages your accounts, funds, can do business in atleast 20 states, etc. Is having to pay this fee a norm when getting started, if so, are there companies that have a lower start up fee? I have taken a 24-hour mortgage broker course in Florida recently, but haven't taken the licensing exam yet. I will need a mentor for the first few deals and would like to get started soon.
Best choice for career change to event planing? My undergraduate degree is in Politics and Religion. I spent the last two years as a community center youth director. My other job experiences have mostly been as administrative assistants. Now I really want to get into PR and event planning. I want to go back to school but I'm not sure for what. Which program would be the best in the long term, MBA in Marketing or Master's in Journalism with a concentration in PR. Of course, there are also online Master degree programs specifically in Event Planning. Thoughts? Yes, the MS in Communications is my other choice. What about between that and the MBA?
Is a career in wildlife biology hard to get? I am getting my BS in Biology right now with emphasis on organisms. I am currently working at a medical laboratory. once I graduate I plan on volunteering at a natur preserve in my state. I am wondering if this would look good for a career in wildlife biology plus possibly getting into a masters program in wildlife biology? Any opinions? ps- I know I will need to have a good GPA (3.0+) to get into a masters program
Has anyone gone to Concorde Career Institute in Jacksonville? I am planning to start the respiratory therapist program in May, the program cost $32,000 which is ALOT. I checked my local colleges but the programs are very had to get into and only are offered once a year. Is Concorde a good college?? I just want to make sure I can get a job after completing the program.
Which is the better career: becoming a school counseler or a school psychologist? I'm interested in pursuing a career in counseling in grade school or secondary school, but am not sure whether I should be looking at a school psychology program or a school counseling program. I'm hoping that I can find a job in which I'm able to spend a reasonable amount of time working with kids on issues, problem solving, creating action plans, etc. and not solely focusing on testing. Any insight from those who have jobs in this field (or who are in graduate school in this area) would be appreciated. Also, details about what a "day in the life" looks like would be really helpful, too.
Necessary to enroll in a post bac. pre med program, or can I just take the pre med reqs at a community college I have decided to pursue a career in medicine. I need to take pretty much all of the science requirements for med schools. I was planning on taking them at a community college (which has a good rep), but I'm afraid that will put me at a disadvantage when it comes to getting into med schools. Does anyone know? I dont want to waste the $40,000 that most programs cost if I don't have to, but if I will be at a disadvantage if I don't, then I will just make it happen. All opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! Thanks. I already have a degree from a 4 year university... I am just worried that finishing up the pre med reqs wont look as good to med schools as it would if I enrolled in a post bac. pre med program.... I dont want to finish all my classes and then have med schools look down on me bc I took them at a community college! Any ideas?
Should I still pursue my career in nursing? I live in CA and plan on transferring to SDSU for the nursing program. Im in a community college right now and I'm doing the best I can in my classes. Sometimes I question if I nursing is the right career for me. Sometimes I feel like I don't know what I'm doing while it seems like everyone else does. Any advice or thoughts will help.
Which high school program should I follow? I'm french educated (I don't live in france) but I speak english as well (I'm half american). I'm in high school and have good grades, I am planning on pursuing a medical career so I'm focusing on science. I want to go to an American College too. I'm hesitating between going to IB or Bac S (in science), take a look at this link to see what is bac S: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Baccalaureate It's called S or série scientifique. They focus on math and science. So which program do you think I should follow? Which one is better for my medical career?
Where is a good place to start if your planning on going into game design? Im planning on modelling, scripting, or some other form of game creation for my future career, and I was wondering if anybody knew where to start? I mean, should I learn programming, buy or download some engine online, or what?
In order to pursue a degree in programming, do you think it is essential for me to take Calculus? What about if you're planning to apply for a college and pursue a computer programming career? Would Calculus be a better class on the application than math studies?
What is the best branch to serve in if I want an FBI career? I have years of school left but Ive been considering the Marines. I plan to apply for the FBI intern program and military background will be much help at my goal. Is the Marine Corps the best to join for my situation?
Whats the difference in a career diploma and a certificate? Other than the price you pay to get them.? I am looking into training to become a medical transcriptionist. I just discovered that the school I am looking at has two programs. They seem exactly the same except for the price I would pay. Is their a difference in a certificate and the career diploma in this particular career? The certificate is cheaper by about $500. My plan is to take the certification exam after I am done studying and become a CMT to make up for lack of experience. Advise?
A job prompt said send resume and personal essay. Then at the end it says include a brief cover sheet. What? I assumed the personal essay was the cover letter. Send your resume and a short personal essay to... Title the subject line of your email internship program. Include a brief cover sheet (1 page maximum) providing insight into your academic and/or career plans, motives for applying for participation in the internship program and how you feel this experience will further your goals.
Does anyone know of a Certified Ethical Hacker or Certified Computer Forensics program that offers financing? I have been looking at online Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) programs, and Certified Computer Forensics programs, but they all want a one-time payment of at least $1,000. I can't afford that, and you can't get financial aid on certifications. Are there any programs that have a payment plan? Please help! I really need to change careers!
I am interested in a career in speech pathology? I am planning to attend community college for two years beforehand, and I would like to know, is it more prudent to get an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree in preparation for a graduate program in this major?
Military nursing: Which branch to join and how does their program work? I am at my local community college taking the pre-reqs for nursing and was considering a career in the military. My plan was to enroll in a nursing school and upon graduation apply to medical school. Could I also do that through the military or no? If i do decide to join the military what would be the best branch to join for nursing and what can I expect? yes it is a 4yr degree. I will have a b.s in nursing.
Programming career? With these criteria, do you think i could get a job working for a big video game company (EX. Bungie, Infinity Ward, EA)? if not, what else would i need to take in College? im in my second year of college. I can program in VB and Java. but plan on learning C++ and C#. I enjoy 2D and 3D design. I can use AutoCad, Solid Edge and BricsCAD. I plan on taking a Catia class. I also love to play all types of Video games (Sports, shooters, strategy)
What career do you think would fit me best? I just wanted to see what everyone thinks I would be able to do based on what I say. Plus, I'm doing a school report on which college I want to go to and why so I need my major. Please don't tell me that "do what makes you happy" thing. I know, I plan to do what makes me happy, but I just want to see. I really want to make a dif. in peoples lives. I really want to help others. I love to sing but I don't think I'm very good. I never want to do any kind of surgery on anything. I love to cook but I never have the time. I'm really good at cooking too.I was hoping to jump into a career on the FBI or a polive officer. I'm in the IPSEI program (gifted students) and I'm in the top 10% of my class. I got to take the SAT's in 7th grade. I learn things very quickly and I'm good at logical thinking. I think I could make a great cook, but that's not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I would love to become something that helps people or animals, but not medically. Mentally. Thanks!

What would be this career/major? I plan on attending a four-year university followed by obtaining my master's degree. I am unsure of what major/career I am supposed to go into. Here is the description of what I am planning on doing: Visual Advertising (Commercials, Magazines, etc.) Business Marketing Design Website Programming (HTML, CSS, etc.) Digital Videography/Editing Multimedia Computer Programming Website Design Graphic Design Is there a major/career that would incorporate most of these and have a good salary? I've heard that I should go into Information Technology (IT) or Computer Sciences and do those jobs on the side, but I was unsure. Any ideas? Forgot to add, I'm currently in high school.

I am trying to decide on a career, I am an idealist, but also practical, need something that will work? Ideally I would love to work with the community, planning projects, and implementing different projects, in as many places as possible. like social work I guess, but in a very broad sense. For example, planning and implementing the shelters for the homeless, in as many cities as possible where needed. Or implementing an employment program in as many cities as possible, youth, etc., any program which will help people at large on a national or even global level. How can I go about learning this, and what is a specific title for this kind of work? Also practically speaking I need to be able to make a decent salary, like around 60,000 a year. So anyone know how I can do this, or what related jobs could work for me?
great career as an MPH-epidemiologist? Has anyone found a great career as an MPH epidemiologist? I am planning to start the program soon. I look forward to your answers.

Career opportunities with a Drama&Communications Degree? What types of careers do you think you can get with a 4 year honours degree in drama & communications? My back up plan for acting is to work somewhere in the filming industry (or casting agency...etc) so this is the program I’m planning to go into. Its hard for me to decide between the B.F.A & Drama & Communications. I know Id LOVE the B.F.A…its exactly what I want to do.... but then Drama & Communications provides you with a better chance of career opportunities. What would you do? Advice very much appreciated :)
Reserve Officer Training Program (Coast Guard) Chances? I am applying for Reserve Officer Training Program with the Coast Guard. I have been a working professional for several years out of college, but I am looking to make a significant career change to something more exciting. My overall GPA for undergrad was 3.1, for professional certification, 3.25. I was not a good test taker in high school. My SAT was somewhere around 1050 (minimum 1000) and my ACT was 21 (they want 23). What are my chances for this program? I am planning on applying for Public Affairs (I minored in Public Relations) or Information Technology. Also, any application insight will be helpful.
what career path should i pursue? well to put it simply i am a jack of all trades and a master of none. that second part is really what trips me up. i can do a lot of things but i havent found something that would fulfill my inner egos need to find my place in life. recently i came to the conclusion that normal college career paths arent right for me. in other words, i cant take a hundred classes that would never come up in daily life or in most peoples future jobs otherwise. so im looking for a degree plan or certificate program that i could complete within a year or two while i figure out what i really want to do in the distant future. i like interacting with people, im good with serving customers in a variety of ways, i like electronics and cars and video production and editing. i like animals, kids, teaching folks things i know and things i can do. im very athletic and energetic, outgoing, driven in the right circumstances. i dont mind sitting down, standing up or driving all day. any suggestions are welcomed.

For Military members in the Army and Air Force - what is the difference? and is there a program for couples? I'm 18 years old, and not sure what I want to do with my life. I've been raised Air Force but my boyfriend and his family are all Army. I'm thinking about joining the Air Force, it's actually something I really want to do, out of all the things I'm unsure about doing in the long run...it's something I think I could excel in & grow from. I've heard that joining the military gives you experiences and knowledge that is invaluable. The AF is also a lifestyle I'm use to. My boyfriend and I plan on getting married and because of the mixed brances I was wondering if there was a program so that couples could be stationed closer together? He plans on the Army as a career, I want to be in the Air Force for 4 years and do not have any plans to stay in longer. The program question applies to military members in mixed branches who are not married as well as married. Also, what is different between lifestyles of Army members vs AF members? Say, if I ever wanted to cross over into the Army.
PLEASE HELP! I AM BEGGING YOU!
Should I take the Honors Program in college? George Mason has invited me to join their Honors program. Truthfully, the school is decent. It is not ivy league, but its reputation is steadily increasing in a very positive fashion. The previous pool of applications was supposedly the largest and most competitive one that they've had in the history of the institution. As a Senior in high school, I have a 4.2 GPA and I'm currently taking three AP classes and four honors courses. I am very interested in the honors program but I'm scared about the difficulty...Will I be able to sleep? Do I take general classes as well? Is it worth it? I'm planning to take up a career in the medical field, which means I'm attempting to get into medical school. Please help! Thanks so much.
My future career, what should I do? any advice? I'm in a pre-nursing program at my high school right now and, though I like it, I've determined that is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I was just directly admitted into college for psychology and I would love to become a psychologist but I don't want to go to school until I'm 28. I've talked to my family about what I want to do but I need an outsiders view. I plan on writing books when I am older but I do not plan to make a career out of this. Or should I? Also, I plan on having a horse and I was considering something with horses (trainer, etc). I recently came upon the idea of being a physical therapist also. If anyone has a job that I talked about or went to school for one of these things I would appreciate any advice you have. I would love to work in a hospital or outside, I have so many choices but I just can't decide. I've also wanted to be a teacher but I don't know if that would work out well or not. Please give me any advice you have and thanks for your time!
Community colleg class to get into PA program? I completed all the classes at a state university for bio major. While in college I didn't know which career field I want to get into. Now I know for sure that I want to get into PA (physician assistant) program. Since I never took couple classes that are prereq for PA program at my college I'm planning on taking them at my local community college. Will the grades from these classes be included in my college gpa? I'm also thinking about retaking couple science classes that I didn't do so well in college. I'm going to take these classes at a community college. I was wondering if the PA programs will look at these classes that I retake. If they do not consider these new grades I don't think I will get accepted into the program because my college gpa is really bad. I just had a rough time in college...mostly health and personal problems. I'm finally better and try to get back in track. thanks

Career/School Advice Please? My goal is to join IATSE (film union) and work in the costume department. There's a 2-year clothing construction certificate program here in Vancouver that I plan to take part-time in the evenings while I continue working to support myself financially. Completing the certificate program will help me get into IATSE. While working and studying costuming at college, I'd like to gradually finish my undergrad degree, which I began 5 years ago. I have 7 more years to finish the degree. My question is this: should I finish my degree in Political Science, which would take me less time because I only have 9 courses left, or should I finish my degree in Fine Arts, which would be more relevant to my career but would take way more time because I have 27 courses left to complete. I'm leaning toward Political Science, tho I enjoy it less, because it will take less time. I want to have enough time to work and study costuming. I'm the type of person who gets anxiety if I have too much on my plate Thanks Jamie -- The Fine Arts program at my school won't increase my employability at IATSE. The community college program will be enough. Another option: I could transfer to Dalhousie, move to Halifax, take out student loans and complete my BFA in costume design instead of doing the community college program. I don't have any major ties here in Vancouver that would prevent me from moving across the country, but I'd prefer to stay in Vancouver.
pursuing a Career in Audio Engineering? I plan on pursuing a career and Audio Engineering and I'm trying to figure out which school I should go for. I'm considering going to SAE institute. I've also considered going to a four year university. So what do you guys think I should go for, a four year university or a private college? If anybody ever went to SAE institute then let me know how the program is.
Do you have to have a stable career to get married? I love my girlfriend like crazy and I was planning on asking her to marry me when our anniversary comes up in a few months. But she recently deciced to quit her job and go back to school. I'm already in graduate school. Her attitude toward school is a lot more intense than mine, and she made some comments about us being in "transition periods" now. Frankly, it kinda makes me want to quit school and get a job... lately I feel like one degree is enough. But in any case, do you HAVE to be stable financially to get married? In my grad program, most of them are already married. Do you have to choose BETWEEN a career and family life?
career advice for interior designer in Canada..? I'm from India.I was enrolled in a bachelor's program for Architecture(5 yrs) which i continued for two years before deciding to shift to Interior Design and I'm currently in the final year of my three year course in interior design (B.Sc.Interior Design)..I have a few questions regarding career options in Canada as a practicing Interior designer. As far as my knowledge goes , to have to practice I need to have some educational background from a canadian university?..My plans are to pursue a Master's program in lighting design..the problem is I cant seem to find universities in toronto that offer a Masters in any related field..i found one in Manitoba but thats way up north n im getting married and settled in Toronto by the end of next year... Also before taking up my masters what i would ideally like to do is gain practical experience and knowledge working in Toronto and then see if theres a particular area i would like to specialise in rather than lighting design. I'd like to know if working like this is possible without having a degree from a canadian university? Also what is the accreditation system in Canada for an international degree..?how can i find out if my current university is accredited in Canada..? would i have to clear exams..just how does it work?.. Any advice on the course of action to be taken would be highly appreciated. Thanks alot for your time..really appreciate it.
What is my career? I'm going to be 30 soon. I work for a great company but my boss pretty much told me that my resume is mainly customer service and sales support. I was a bit suprised by this. I dont get commission, but i have certainly dealth with customers in a sales envirmonment (on phone or over email), I also have two temps who I manage, I've done event planning and have expereince with many systems and i've updated one of our websites. Why would he pretty much say to me that i only had general adminstrative duties, when i feel i have more than that. I am also in a masters program for communications management. I'm feeling discouraged. I'm a bit bored with work, i think my boss senses this. I am meeting with the career services people at my college next week...my boss is also giving me some accounts to manage. I dont know what else to do to improve
Is the National Guards "College First" program right for someone in my situation? I am seventeen years old, and currently a junior in highschool. I was recently made aware of the fact that I am lacking in college funds, and I cannot seem to find a good scholarship at all. The concept of military service as a means to pay for college was also recently brought to my attention, and if no scholarships present themselves in the near future I may be joining the National Guard. At this point I am set on doing whatever it takes to get into college, but the idea of taking out student loans sickens me (please note that getting into college is not a concern, only tuition). At this point I no longer have any reservations about the military. I would be signing under the "college first" plan, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with that program, as well as any advice on a good career option for an aspiring linguistics major (i.e. translator). also, how difficult should someone who has never shot a firearm expect the rifle qualifying test to be? -thanks a lot, Daniel D
Is the IB Program any good? i've heard that it really pulls your grades down and it is only good if you plan to pursue career in science or maths . . . otherwise, it's not very useful at all. and i've also heard that some universities don't recognise IB grades as superior (for example, 80% in IB equals to a 90% in regular academic courses). i'm in pre-IB this year and going into actual IB next year . . . should i continue with IB?
Any advice on career choice? Mentally. Thanks!
Is it too late to change my career? I'm currently in the nursing program and do not enjoy it. I have one more year left so I plan to just finish it and have it as a back up plan. Well, here's the deal...I'll be 25 when I start schooling for what I've been interested in for so long but have put it on the back burner for some time. Basically, I want to major in photography and theatre (not acting but the light and sound technician). I just can't seem to find joy in nursing and am already burnt out...what I truly desire is a more creative job. Don't get me wrong, I give all my respect to those great nurses out there...but its just not the job for me. Would it be too late to change careers. Should I just switch majors now...having nursing as a back up would be nice. I already have a job lined up for me after graduation 3 days a wk 12 hr shifts...I'll have 4 days off to study whatever I want and hopefully change my career! I've been very stressed during nursing school so far and it has had a toll on my health...I don't eat and sleep. Last week, I only ate 1 meal for 3 days.
Is the International Baccalaureate program worthwhile...? I'm not like other students that I've talked to thus far. I've been in the IBMYP program from sixth grade until now, sophomore year, but have absolutely no idea what I plan to do after college, though I'm fairly certain it won't be any sort of high intelligiance ground-breaking career. Which brings the question to mind...why am I in this program, anyway?
Major career shift.. help me out please!!? I did my undergrad in India (major:CSE) and applied to quite a few universities for joining in masters program(CS) and got admits into a few of them(UTD,texastech, university of florida at gainesville). But the problem is that I am not really into computers.. I mean I dont wanna spend the rest of my life programming and stuff.. need a more real and exciting environment..so decided to make a major shift to management side.. now I need some serious advice as to how to plan this shift.. I want to study either finance or IROM (latter preferred).. do I have to do a bachelors again.. i need advice regarding the prereqs I might need to complete and whether they can be carried over to UT austin if i study those at a community college. Here are my acad stats: undergrad aggregate: 81% GRE score : 1420 { i guess i'll have to take GMAT again :( } TOEFL :113 This is very important to my career guys so please do help me out.. thanks a lot
Is the PASS (Plan for Achieving Self-Support) program through SSA a program that helps you work? I know it's about saving your benefits to achieve a work goal, but I'm confused about it. How does it work? Do you work a job & then save your SSI money & put it aside in order to help you work on your BIG time career goal? I'm not clear on how it works.
I am 38 years old and have plans to change my career to IT by joining SAP course.? I had finished my B.Com way back in 1987. May I join this expensive SAP course? I want to know the details before making the payment of the fee. As I am not well versed with any programming skills, I have some doubts about the succesful completion of this course. I request the SAP professionals to clear my doubt as it would be useful for me to take a decision.
Undergrad (AT or Sports Med) + Master(PT) or just 5 yr Masters program in Physical Therapy? I am trying to figure out what my college plans should be. I am strongly interested in athletic training/sports medicine and physical therapy. I have done internships in both areas and my interest has only increased with work! My question is: Should I do my undergrad in Athletic training/sports medicine and THEN get my masters in Physical Therapy - OR should I go into a 5 year masters program in PT right from the start. Is the advantage of working with athletes (in AT/SM) worth the extra money and time? How much of a career boost would it really give me? Thanks
