Career???? I'm 20 years old and I don't know what I want to do with my life. Right now, I'm a nanny and I LOVE it. I love feeling like I'm making a difference in a person's life but I'm living paycheck to paycheck with no extra money at all. I'm getting married in three months and my fiance has a really good paying job but, I don't want to be a bum wife that depends on her man to take care of her, you know? I change my mind on a daily basis... One day I want to be a [starving] photographer and then the next I think being a nurse would be kind of cool. The next day, I'm thinking about being a social worker. Are there any websites that can help a person decide what type of career would be good for them based on their interests?
What career field can allow me to travel for awhile or stay in one place? I'm looking for a certain career field in which you have the option to opt to travel. International Teaching was the career I found that give you this option of either teaching from the states, or going anywhere in the world as you please. I was wondering if their were similiar careers that give you this option? Thank you.
What is the difference between a career in Finance and a career in Accounting? I am thinking about going back to school to get a BS in Business Administration. I would like to know what the difference is in careers in Finance and Accounting. Has anyone had a career in either field? What I want to know is: What did you think of your career? What did you do all day in Finance or Accounting? Did you find it exciting or really boring? For a career as a Financial Planner or Financial Advisor, do you work off of commision only? Any information would be very helpful. Thanks.
What career can I pursue with a major in Economics? I am an incoming freshman planning to major in Economics at UC Davis. I would like to work at a bank, become an accountant, or do something related to finance for my career. I don't know much about these careers, but I really want a job that pays well. My opinion so far on some specific jobs: Accounting- seems boring, but a stable job. Are there different types of accounting? What classes should I take? What's the average salary? Management- requires an outgoing and friendly person with a good attitude and outstanding leadership skills, able to handle situations on the spot. Not everyone can do it, but if you have these skills, you'll excel in this area. Investment banking- extremely competitive to get into, extremely competitive job in general, work 60+ hours per week, but extremely good pay. I especially want information for this. What classes should I take? What would help me get a job in this area?
What career should I choose that involve with musketal and nervous system? What health care careeer should i choose? What career fields require a background check? This is a two part question. I am thinking of going into the nuclear field and medicine. Even though my background is clean, I don't know what to expect for them to find. What type of a background check should I expect going into these career fields? And what other careers have background checks relating to your past history? If you want to know, some employers base not only on criminal background, but credit and medical as well. I have bad credit and the medical history isn't very well either.
What is your dream career; the career you are striving to achieve? What is the career that you desire to have? I've always planned on becoming a journalist and then an editor from there. What do people think about a career as a careers guidance counsellor for young people? I'm thinking about a career in careers guidance counselling (in England) which I know now falls under the Connexions service. I was just wondering what people thought about it as a career. Is it rewarding? Having already worked in social services I am aware of the difficult people that you deal with but what I want to know do you feel as though you're making a difference and is it worthwhile?
What are some good career options for someone interested in the medical field? I am interested in changing careers from a school counselor to something in the medical field. I enjoy the helping aspect of the field as well as am interested in its investigative nature and of course pay. However, before I go adding anymore debt to my already ridiculous student loans I need to figure out exactly what career path I should follow. I know it seems sensible to go the psychiatrist route with my background but I'm not to into it anymore. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what some possible careers may be. Anything you offer will be a great help thanks!
Whats the career that helps out in the making of consumer electronics? What is that profession called? I was pondering the other day about what career I would like to take up when I get out of high school and realized that I do have an interest in the making of consumer electronics (Like mp3 players, and portable devices. Not so much computers). What kind of professions are there that would help in the making of this kind of stuff? Can someone give me a list of careers around this area and tell exactly what they do? Thanks in advanced for your answers. I also would like to know what colleges would be good for this field and what courses in High School I should take. I know I'm just a freshman but I want to be prepared when I leave for a college. Thanks for the answer marystoy_2000. I understand a little more about what i'm asking now. What if I wanted to design the housing of the product and how its organized? Also, what would it be called if I wanted to be the Project Manager?

What is the best career path to become a corporate treasurer? I was a non-traditional student who is now a few years into my third career - in accounting/finance. My second career was in banking, and I am currently pursuing an MBA in finance. The question could be restated: What is the best career path for an accountant with a solid finance background to have a reasonable chance at assuming the title of Treasurer at a large (+$1 billion sales) company? I figure if I can swing Treasurer, then I will get to the short list for CFO - who is always on the short list for CEO, the goal for all aspiring business professionals. Thanks.
What is your most burning career-related question? I have a career-themed website designed to help people succeed in their careers, and really want to provide valuable information. I need career advice, thinking about a career in the FBI as a criminal profiler? I'm still not sure yet but i think I want to become a supervisory special agent with the NCAVC or a criminal profiler as its more commonly known. Of course I realize that I will spend many years as an FBI special agent first and even then getting into the NCAVC and even then its not guaranteed. I'm only a freshman in high-school but I want to start planning on a career as soon as possible. Right now I'm just looking for any kind of advice such as useful courses to take in college, working conditions of an FBI special agent and/or criminal profiler or alternate careers in the FBI. I'm generally an intelligent person and I'm good at figuring things out and reasoning- I'm a logical thinker. I just want a career where i can use my skills and also make the world a better place in some way. If you know of any other careers (in or outside criminal justice) that sound like what I'm looking for that would also be a big help. Thank you for all your help.

How long does a modeling career last? I am looking to model in the high fashion industry. I am planning on going on America's Next Top Model but I am wondering if it would be possible to go to college before I begin my career. I know that the career doesn't last forever and that is why I would like to go to college so that way I could get another job once I am too old to model. If you could tell me how long a modeling career lasts in the high fashion industry. Any additional information would be appreciated. Thank you.

How to have a writing career while working full time and having a family? I work 4 days a week, about 9-10 hours and have three days off in a row. I have a young child, planning a second soon, and love to write but have had a hard time turning it into a career. I'd like to eventually make it a full time career, but am not ready to take that leap. First of all, I make more money than my husband right now (he's in school) and we need my job, and second, I don't know yet if I would be successful, so it's a lot to bank on. I do want to write professionally, by the way, not just as a hobby. So, how can I build up my writing career while working and still having time for family, etc.?
How does one start a career as a TV show host? I would like to start a career on television. I already have a bachelors degree and would like to change my career. Everyone says that I have a face for TV and they can see me on TV. How do I start this type of career? Is 25 too old to start?

What career path can I choose that will help people and make good money? Hi, I am a highschool student thinking about what career path I should take. I want a job that will help people and make pretty good money. The obvious choice would be a doctor. But, I have never liked science that much, and wouldn't want to go through the dreadful process of becoming one. They have to train for about 12 years after highschool. What other jobs are there that I can plan on doing that will help people and make pretty good money. Thanks!
What career options are available for me? I'm a junior once school starts, and lately, I've been thinking about what I want to do with my life. I understand that many don't stick with one career their whole life, but I'd like to narrow down my options. I've always leaned towards the medical field, but I was wondering what I should be doing now to reach that. Volunteering at a hospital? Internship? Also, what other options are out there? What are you doing, do you enjoy it?
What career will allow me to work alone and independently? I'm going back to school and I'm trying to decide which career path to take. I'd be happiest if I could work by myself; preferly from home if I could. I have office/bookkeeping experience and have always loved working on the computer. I'm really thinking about website development. Does anyone know if I could do that from home, maybe freelance? Does anyone have any suggestions?
What is a good career that consists of helping people especially impoverished children? I would like to have a career that consists of helping people. One of the things that I find interesting but I know I would be too emotional to have the job is a child abuse/neglect social worker. I am considering becoming a pediatric nurse yet I like teaching. I just want to know what other occupations there are that consist of working with children. I do also like helping adults by giving them advice and such. So I would like to hear what other jobs anyone can come up with.
What type of career can I get from studying world events, specializing in the Middle East and Africa? I have been, for the last 1-2 years been studying current events and some of the background information on world events especially in the Middle East and Northeastern Africa. I have attempted to keep track of everything reported out of this region of the world as well as all other parts of the world. I just graduated high school but I know an enormous amount of information. So, what type of career, after going to college, could I get with this type of knowledge? Would I have to write books to make a living?
How do I start a career in animal welfare? I already have a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Biotechnology...but would like to have a career in animal welfare. What would be the best way to get started? I would not mind going back to school...preferably for a more advanced degree and not another Bachelors, though. Any help would be appreciated. Edit: I have looked at several non-profits in the area and they are more than happy to take on volunteers...but as far as hiring goes...I have no idea how to get my foot in the door.
What is the difference between total career points and retirement points in the military? I spent 3 years, 9 months and 10 days on active duty (was released 3 months early for graduate school) That gives me on my retirement printout 1371 retirement points. Then, I joined the guard and received another 164. Total retirement points 1535 for a total 5 "good" years. However, I also did some correspndence corses which I was told to turn in to the retirement person which shows up on my printout as "ACCP Misc Points" and is added to the "Total Career Points" column--NOT the "Total Points for Retirement Pay" column. Question--what is the difference between "career points" and "retirement points?" If career points are not calculted for retirement pay, what are they good for? To the one responder so far--I am sure you know what you are talking about--however, I have no idea what "non-retirement bond" means.
What are some good resources for career counseling? I need some help! I need to find a new career. I am highly educated and a hard worker, but I have come to the realization that the career pathway I am on now will not lead me to the life goals I have. I am very lost at how to go about this. I would like to find someone who could sit down with me, look at my education/resume, and help give me some ideas about what kind of careers are even out there. I don't mind pursuing other classes/training that will help make me more marketable, but I don't necessarily want another degree right now. The thing is, I feel like I don't know anything about what kind of jobs exist and what kinds of background you need to do these jobs, let alone how to break into a new industry. I can write a top-notch resume/cover letter and can fend for myself in an interview, I don't need help on that side. I need help on the side of matching my skills to what jobs exist and knowing which jobs would provide an adequate salary range. Also, what might these services cost? I have spent these last five years pursuing the idealism of my college days and am realizing that it just doesn't pay the bills. I don't have a lot of extra money for this kind of thing, but I am willing to pay what I do have for some good results.
What career should I pursue that will accept my indiviuality? I want to have a career where my individuality wont be a problem. What career opportunities are there in nutrition? I have just graduated with a bachelors degree in nutrition and food science. I did not plan on taking this any further. Now I am taking the year off to apply to medical school. Medicine is my passion, but my chances of acceptance do not look good, so I am looking into a masters in human nutrition, and going on to get a PhD. I figure that I'll still be involved in healthcare, even if it is not my first choice. Besides teaching and research, do you know of any career opportunities in nutrition and food science with either a masters or PhD? Thank you in advance for your answers.
What career oppurtunities does an Islamic studies degree provide? I really want to study Islam because it is such a beautiful way of life yet misunderstood and misrepresented by many. But, I'm not really sure what type of career oppurtunities this degree would provide and what type of salary. I would like to be a professor and that would most likely require a masters as well. What can I do prior to or what other possibilities are there?
What is a good career for a person with a degree in mathematics? I am currently a high school math teacher, but I am quickly becoming sick of the laziness in a lot of today's youth. How do I go about switching a career from engineering to business? Right now I have a bachelors degree in electrical engineering and in the future I might leave engineering to pursue a business career in finance or accounting. How would I go about doing this? I plan to get a MBA so I think that would help with the switch. Do I need to get a bachelors in accounting or finance? I was curious to see if there was anyone out there who has made a major career switch from engineering to business OR anyone that has made a major career switch that is unrelated (eg: finance to dentist) and how they went about it.

career dilemma-please solve? Question Details: Hi, I am a 18 year old 12th passed student, currently I am preparing for various engineering entrance exams such as IIT JEE, AIEEE, etc. But I want to pursue a career according to my APTITUDE, PERSONALITY, INTERESTS and CREDIBILITY (in the sense of earning money) unlike many others who just blankly select a career which others tell them to or which is tried and tested (e.g. engg, mba, etc) .Unhesitatingly I would like to make it clear that I want a career in which there is sure shot success (of course hard work is essential) and I can earn loads of money. APTITUDE- Talking of my aptitude and academic performance, I was always an above average student securing 85% in 10th and 75% in 12th .My strongest subject is science and while unexpectedly I am weaker in maths and English, my other strong subjects are computer science and geography. PERSONALITY-Frankly speaking I am really a shy guy. But I work very much hard and smart in whatever responsibility is given to me. Some of my personality attributes are assertiveness, self-confidence, ethics, sharpness and perfectionist. I want to pursue a career in which these qualities are required. INTERESTS-I want a career somewhat related to science. I have active interests in computers. I also need to pursue a career in which I can surely make money just after completing my studies (as loan repayment) because I belong to economically weaker family. My present aim is of becoming a B.Tech (Probably in computers). Is it in accordance to my above stated qualities. Should I pay more importance to subjects like maths, English in which I am weak and which are extremely important for this career OR I should choose a different career? PLEASE SUGGEST ME an appropriate career considering above into account. I will be extremely grateful if you help me in solving this huge career dilemma. Waiting for your reply anxiously. Yours faithfully, Saurav agarwal Email-sauravemail@gmail.com
Career counseling - PhD in psychology not good enough? I've been trying to figure out my career for a while now. I've visited MANY career counselors, academic advisers, career advising sites, etc... and feel I know a lot about all kinds of different careers, skill sets involved, types of tests to measure ability & interest, etc... After all of this I realized that even though I found myself losing interests in lots of careers after considering them for a time, I found that one thing I still enjoy after all of this time is the actual learning & researching about careers from an outsiders perspective. I like looking at career sites, for example, and learning about the careers inside & out, even if I have no interest in actually joining the career. I keep being told that a masters in education is the best way to go, but I was wondering if a PhD in psychology would be alright? I know it probably takes longer, and is more difficult, but I'd prefer it. I know at least one career counselor who has one, and I want to make sure it won't hurt.

Career dilemma....Please help!!? I need serious help. I'm 28 years old and at a serious crossroads in my life. I want to go back to school within the next year, but I don't know what direction to go in. I have two opposite career choices in mind. In one direction, I can go for a career and make good money. I wouldn't hate the career, but I know I wouldn't be passionate about it. The other direction, I would have a career that I would be passionate about, but I wouldn't have a steady/guaranteed income. My husband doesn't make a lot of money and we are constantly living paycheck to paycheck which is something I don't want to do. I want so much more for myself and my family. But, I also want to be happy. So, do I go for the career that makes money and regret later in life that I didn't do what I was passionate about, or do I go for the career that I would really enjoy that makes very little money and regret that I didn't go for the career that would give us financial security? What would or have you done?

I have been thinking and thinking and i've researched every possible career and what it takes to get there (some tell me i'm prepared to be a Career Guidance Counseller :D) but i wouldn't like that. Anyways, what i DO know is i do not like economics, or the "business" lifestyle in general. I am very interested in human biology, social sciences and english. I was seriously considering taking courses (Chemistry, Biology) that would lead to a career in sciences. There is only ONE problem : i am very weak in mathematics (i have trouble PASSING, forget getting a reasonable mark) So my question is, is it still possible to get into a science-based career (medicine, pharmecuticals, etc) without very strong math marks? Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Career as a Canadian paralegal? I'm debating taking a two year paralegal course. I currently have a 3 year criminology degree that will do nothing to enchance my paralegal course, but I have no desire to continune on any path that a criminology degree will take me. I have researched paralegal careers on here and the results are quite negative. People on this website say that a paralegal career is quite horrible. I'd prefer to hear from paralegals for an answer, Canadian more so due to the fact there are probably quite a few differences between the American legal system and my own. I enjoy the thought of a 9-5 job. I hate shift work and have done it my whole life. I enjoy desk work as well. I find the law interesting. I have researched the career, statistics state the career has a fair outlook in the future, with the highest paying salary of all "para" trades, eg. paralegal, paramedic. Any insight would be great. Is being a paralegal a decent career?
How to jump start a career in Human Resources in Houston Texas? How to jump start a career in Human Resources in Houston Texas? I have an MBA in Human Resources and MIS (Management Information Systems), BA in psychology. Only 4 months of experience as an HR admin (temporary assignment) and 2.5 years of experience in QA for a medical device company (just quitted the job because they wanted me to work second shift and decided to stay home with my two year old baby). It has been HARD for me to get a job in HR in Puerto Rico because they all ask for at least 3 years in HR. My husband and I are thinking that we could relocate to Cypress, TX. He is a power plant engineer and I am sure he will find a job but ...Do I stand a chance in Houston Texas or should I quit my interests and stay at home with my two year old? It is NOT easy being a mom and pursue a dream career! Do you think it is the end road for me and I have wasted my time with an MBA? Please advise and be sincere.
Career Path for a canadian diplomat? I am in highschool and am extremely inetrested in foreign relations and travel. I am not totally sure on the career that I want but I have read about what diplomats do and am very interested in the field. If I could find a career that would have me living in another country learning languages and customs I would love my life. So my question is how do you get into this field of working in embassys starting with University courses. I am graduating next year and I plan on going into University. Any University major that would help me with my goals, I would consider. So if you could please tell me about the job (specifically Canadian please) and how to get into this career that would be great! Also, I am wondering about the careers of Ambassador and also U.N delegate... would these careers also be a good idea? Thank you for your time and please answer anything you can.
Career ideas? So i'm officially a senior now in highschool and I need career ideas. I thought about careers since I was like 5th grade. I'm always so full of myself. So it's completly getting me stressed and worried that I don't have any idea what I want to do. Ever since that age I was even for sure of a career but all the time I would change my mind and now i'm just confused. Everyone is pressuring me like "You should know by now." and everything. Only a few people are actually giving me encurougement. But anyways. Back to the point, sorry about that. I have no idea what my career should be. I shall write what I like and everything like that. ~Fundraising :) :) ~Animals :) :) ~Writing(poetry, but bad at spelling so I have it checked before I show it to anyone else) What I don't like to be in a career -Teacher(Even though some of my teachers say I should be a teacher, but I wouldn't be able to remember anyone's names and I can't see that as a job for me) -NOTHING MEDICAL.
career.....? I've always wanted to be a Doctor, but the amount of schooling I have to do is making me want to change my mind. What are some careers that pay great that you don't have to do a lot of school for? just so I can get a gist of what else might be out there... I'm starting community college this fall. I'm in 11th grade right now
Career in fashion?? Im really interested in working in fashion, but not so much of the designing. I love picking out outfits and am good at knowing what will look good on other people. I'm in highschool and I'm starting to look at colleges. I dont know exactly what kind of career I want to pursue in fashion though and don't know if I should look at buisness and advertising schools or specific fashion schools. Are there any careers that allow you to pick out outfits or like buy clothes for certain stores? And what kind of colleges should I look at for that career?
Career Opportunities? I am trying to think of different career pathways I could take once I am out of highschool. I live in Canada and I want a job that: a) requires hard work b) academic skills c) requires schooling I love to work with children, help other people out, being creative/immaginative. I would love a career that required all of these things. I really dislike hospitals, needles, blood, etc. I don't want a career that requires accounting/lots of numbers. I am still young, I just want to start thinking of possibilites. I know I haven't given enough information for you to really know me but I was wondering, from what you've read or experianed if there is a career that you think I might find appealing? I am still in highschool and I don't know of alot of careers other than nurse, factory worker, etc. (Things that are common). I would appreciate any ideas that could get me thinking : ). Thank-you! I WAS considering a kindergarden teacher :)! I deff. still am--- but the thought of spending my life in school scares me.
Career/major help? Hi, I'm a freshman in college and I'm having a hard time picking a major/career path.. I know I'm at the begining of my education and everyone changes their minds alot, but I'd really like to try to sort things out now so I'm not wasting so much time and money (I don't want loads of debt!!) I'm interested in a bunch of different things, especially languages. Fashion intrests me, but it seems too difficult, teaching sounds ok, but pays peanuts :( and a medical career like dermatology or physical therapy sounds neat, but I don't want to go to school for an extremely long time... If anyone has any ideas or advice about what to do/how to do/where to go to get an idea on what major/career would be best, or what careers there are in languages, fashion, teaching, or medical careers that don't involve a PhD, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks
Career in Information Systems? I am thinking of changing careers and persuing a career in Information Systems. I did some topics in computing in my degree programme and I have 'A' level computing. Can you tell me what specific qualifications I would need to get a job in the Information Systems field? Is it a well paid career to go into? Can you direct me to other sources of information to enable me to gather more information to enable me to make a more informed decision as to whether or not to go into that career field. Finally, I am approaching 40 years of age. Do you think it is too late to think about a career change? The only work experience I have is credit control (debt collector), and office administration. Thanks

Having a career in culinary arts Pros & Cons? I am interested in hearing the pros and cons of going to cooking school along with some career track details. Are cooks and chefs in high demand? I'd hate to follow a career track that will leave me unable to be hired unless I'm in the top 2% of my profession. Median Income? How much does the average chef get paid? What is needed to achieve a salary of 45K or greater and how long does it take to usually reach that? See, I'm a video editor. I'm already in a career which I can barely find work. I've been offered upwards 90K for my services but those offers are few and far between, and usually aren't sustainable because the companies have billing and client issues. I think culinary arts would be a fun transition. It has a creative element that I can get into. But like I said, stability to me trumps fun so I need to figure it out. I haven't seen it on any of the top 50 career websites so that's why I'm concerned about the move.
How did Dirk win the MVP in an almost career worst year as Nash had a career best year? Dirk had one of his worst if not his worst all around year as a NBA starter in 8 years as a NBA starter, but won the MVP. Meanwhile Steve Nash had an across the board career best year in almost every category that counts and was the two time defending MVP award winner. What defines a MVP. Dirk - never as Dirk scored his fewest 3 point baskets in his 8 years as a NBA starter in the 2006-2007 season making only 72 three pointers the whole season as everyone ranked in the top 20 as far as field goal percentage in the 2006-2007 NBA season made significantly more than 72 three pointers for the entire season which was Dirk's record personal NBA low as a starter. While Dirk only made about 72 three pointers while having the 13th best three point FG percentage this last regular season, all other top 20 three point shooters as far a three point FG percentage scored 100 or more three point baskets. Dirk had almost a career worst year as a NBA starter in 2006-2007 having: -a career worst year as a NBA starter in three point shots made in his 8 year NBA career as a NBA starter (the current year's 13th from the best three point shot FG percentage) -a career worst year in fewest steals as a starter -a career worst year in fewest blocked shots as a starter -Dirk's second most turnovers out of 8 years as a starter -Dirk's 6th best year out of 8 years (meaning third from his worst year) in rebounding -Dirk's 7th best year out of 8 years (meaning his second from his worst year in defensive rebounds) -Dirk's lowest scoring average per game in the last three years -and Dirk's second lowest scoring average per game in the last five years. I mean what was there about Dirk's personal 2006-2007 season to get excited about on the team which probably had the second deepest team as far as talent in 2006-2007 which was the best that Mark Cuban's money could buy; or, in other words, Dallas' 67 wins came from a team effort from 11 guys who played regularly game in and game out for Dallas. Maybe I didn't see it, but maybe Dirk came within a mile of making the first or second team All NBA Defensive Team. No offense intended Dirk, but your personal stats were really bad in 2006-2007, and when a player sets personal lows in steals per game and blocks per game, then that usually means that they have lost a couple of steps, and, in my statistical analysis of NBA players means that that particular player is on his way down and has already seen his better days. Probably why Dirk couldn't get Dallas out of Round One against Nellie. I think that it is media types who vote on MVPs just like the media types who voted Marcus Camby the defensive player of the year in 2006-2007 when NBA head coaches didn't even vote Marcus Camby either the best or second best defender in the NBA in 2006-2007. The same media types who say LeBron is better than Michael voted Dirk MVP which shows you what the sports media types know about bball. This compares to Steve Nash's 2006-2007 year (the two time defending MVP from 2006 and 2005) in his 11 year NBA career to date: -career best year in FG % (over 3 points higher than Dirk) -career best year in three point FG % (over 4 points higher than Dirk) -career best year in three point FGs made (somewhere around 170 three pointers made compared to Dirk's 72 made) -shot 89.9% from the FT line -second best year in 11 years in rebounds per game -best year ever in assists per game -best year ever in total assists -committed fewest fouls ever in career -best year ever in points per game -best year ever in total points Now, I am no Phoenix fan or Steve Nash fan, but the South African native Steve Nash sure had a career year in 2006-2007 as compared to German native Dirk who had a very below average personal year compared to Dirk's prior 8 years as a NBA starter. I mean how could two time defending MVP Steve Nash have a career year across the board leading his team to 61 victories not be voted MVP when Dirk had one of his worst years ever as a NBA starter. I guess Dirk's almost career worst NBA year as a starter showed up in Round One of the NBA playoffs. But, then "global" NBA Commissioner David Stern probably wanted the German basketball fans as NBA Commissioner Stern has gotten the South African and Canadian fans in the last two MVP award prior to this year.
Career help! 2nd careers for Graphic Designers??? Editing? Motion Graphics? Career transition..? I've been a print designer for 10 years. Big companies, great book. Been there, done that. BORED AS HELL! Plus I can't imagine being a 45 or 50 year old graphic designer (not there yet, just pre-planning) Don't want to design anymore, more technical. Any career options that would translate my experience to a new career? Final Cut Pro? Apple tech? I need to learn something new with REAL career possibilities. I'm not the manager type, I'm the producing type.. Please, if you're not in the same boat, or don't get what I'm saying, don't answer with a one-liner.

career dog trainer for dog sledding? I am looking into a career with dogs and I’ve visited a dog sledding tour guide service in Albert Canada and now I’m hooked and want to get a career linked with dog sledding. There isn’t really much info as a career on this type of job but I’m guessing training with a tour guide service would benefit for whatever job I wanted to pick as a dog musher or a trainer for dog sledding. Is there a college course or courses that someone would take to go into these careers or is it mostly apprenticeship?

Thank you very much in advance, SAM
career changing/interview questions? Still trying to change careers. Having trouble answering why I need ti and explaining time spent in my current "career". After thinking about it my new answers are: "...looking for stability and the opportunity to advance (my current "career" does not offer this.)" As for the length of time spent in my current "field" I've come up with "I worked in x field because I needed to work while I learned new skills (not going to g school because said field does not allow for one to continue their education in other fields) volunteered, networked and supported myself." There aren't any husbands ex or otherwise or children to blame this lapse on just hard times and nepotism everywhere. IAE I need an unbiased opinion from someone who knows about HR etc not just Joe Schmo's opinion. Please cite your source(s) Sigh. This is not about being "negative" this is about not having a decent job in this area due to nepotism. Of course I'm not going to bad mouth former employers or mention the elephants in the room at an interview (nepotism and regionalism) I just want to explain why I couldn't sit around and NOT work while searching for a job that suits me.
Need Help -- Career Exploration Project? Well, this is how my school works. We have academies, I'm in Entrepreneurship, and sub-academies named strands, of which I'm in International Business and Marketing. The problem is that over Spring Break I have to do a career exploration paper (inc. nature of work, conditions, salary, education, etc) on it. I explained to him that Int. Business isn't a career. You can't be an International Businesser, there are careers under that such as exporter, etc. He says that my career is my strand and I can't go below that. What do I do? I've tried numerous career websites such as www.bls.gov/oco, www.career2000.org, and www.labormarketinfo.com but none of them have info on Int. Business since it isn't a CAREER.

Help!! Career path tarot reading done/needed....just need to make sure i understand!? Help. I have a set of Tarot Cards that I break out every now and then. I asked a question for a friend (who was not in front of me) and did the 10 card reading with the ryder waite (?) deck. Please help me validate the answer. The reading is perfect and is exactly laid out perfectly aligned with the question asked. I just don't want MY interpretation to be incorrect! The question was should he take career path a (current) or career path b (opportunity). I said if the tarot read positive to career path "B" then he should go career path b. If negative then should go career path a. If indifferent, then either path chosen will work out fine. Here is how the reading came out: dealing with - 8 of Pentacles crossing - 6 Cups what beneath - 10 Wands what behind - 7 Wands crowning - 4 Swords what before querant - Knight Pentacles what being given (or something like that) - Devil others - 5 Cups hopes/fears/conscious mind - 8 Swords final - Sun Hierophant fell out @ end the question that I asked was in regards to career b and i said if the cards read positive then help my friend go with career b. if they read negative then go with career a. if they were indifferent then let it alone all together....was this positive, negative, or indifferent for career b? thanks!

Military career or not? What should we do? Here’s the deal…my wonderful husband is in the military. He is an E5 and testing for E6 in a few days. The highest rank an airman can be is an E9. So he’s obviously got some rank on him. Here’s our dilemma. His term is up in December 09. At that point he will have been in for 11 years. We are trying to decide what is best for us. We can’t decide whether or not we should re-enlist or not. If he does re-enlist we will only have nine more years before he can retire if he wants and collect that lovely paycheck every month. Not to mention the free medical and dental for our family for life. But this also means that I am out of a job or at least a career. I would have to work doing something but I would just take a job that wasn’t a career path and just more or less a way to make some money. The other option we have is for him to get out and then me take over my fathers business. I would probably make around $70,000 per year but I would also be a full time career woman. This has never been my dream. I have always dreamt of being a mommy that works not a working mommy. You know? Another dilemma for that would be my man would then be the one who takes any old job here and there that he can. What do we do??? Military Career Pros Only nine more years Medical and dental benefits for life. The chance to see the world perhaps. A guaranteed paycheck after retirement every month. Military Career Cons My man could be gone for up to a year at a time away from me and his family. It can be a dangerous job. No stability- we won’t be able to purchase a house because you never know where you’ll be. Uprooting our family when we have to. Moving far from both our hometowns **I also must mention that my man has a five year old daughter from a previous marriage. The little girl lives in TX with her mother. If we keep getting uprooted it may be hard for us to see her. Especially if we get re-located overseas** WHAT DO WE DO???????? I would love to get both military and civilian feedback…especially military wives.
Career Help, Please? Hi everyone, I'm Jeff, I'm 19 and living in Massachusetts. I'm become really depressed and just feel lost over my schooling/career decisions as of late. I absolutely love computers and I know that I want to do something with them as my career. I attended ITT Tech for Multimedia (which I love) from Sep. '06 - Nov '07. It was then that I realized that it was more of a hobby than a career for me. I dropped out of ITT, and wanted to get into Networking since it's rather it works or it doesn't, unlike Multimedia where you have to think of new things every day and worry about plagiarism. My dad was 100% for it since his friend makes 100k+ in it a year. I now realized I want to do something similar to the "works or doesn't " area, and I got the All-In-One A+ Book for the certification as I figured that would be a good place to start. Now my parents won't talk to me & I have no guidance and feel lost. Can anyone please refer me to a job similar to tech support that pays well/decent? Thank you.
What career should I go into? I know this sounds crazy, but I'm going to trust yahoo answers with my career choice. Of the following, pick a career and explain why I should go into this career. What is your Career or what do you want to do when you graduate? I'm not really sure what career I would want to go in, so i'm wondering what types of careers are out there. So just say what your career you are in or what you want to do and give a little description on what you do and how feel about it. I'm really interested in History, english, anthropology, sociology, and psychology. I was considering being a elementry school teacher or even a nurse. But I don't think those career options are for me. So I'd really like to hear what other people have to say about there or career choice or what you want to be when you graduate! Thanks!
Career Counselor? I would some assistance on what career/job I should go into. I went to two years of college, but am still undecided on my major. Has anyone sought a career counselor before? Does it help or are there any other ways to help me decide what career to go into?

Career choice...? I'm a sophmore and I want to know about a career that fits my personality. I don't know about many careers, is there a website I can visit or a book that uses my personality to help find a career I'd love to have? I don't mind going to college for this career.. If there's a website I don't want to have to pay for anything or give a mailing address =)
Career advice??? I was a teacher for 4 years. Now I am going to go back to school to become a lawyer. The dilemma is...I've always wanted to do something creative. Writing is my main talent, but I love visual art, music/singing, and dance. Still, I don't know if I want to pursue a career in one of these areas, or just have it as a hobby. I do want to do something big with it though...maybe with writing. But does it have to be my main career? I think I would like being a lawyer, but I'm not deeply passionate about it like the other things. It would be a good way to make my living, then do the other things on the side. Or should I just go forth and find a career opportunity in my main passion area? Anyone have expertise with this? And what careers could I do?? Thanks!!! Oh yeah...more specifically...I have written hundreds of poems, song lyrics, and a few tunes. I want to write songs and perform. I want to write a book of poetry and maybe a novel. Do you think I can do this on the side? Thank you for your answers. Maybe I should add more details. My father is in estate planning and I will go into business with him. He says the hours are not incredibly long, and that I will make 6 figures. I may have partners but not work for a firm. But I hope I find this is really the case when I get into it! I recognize the whole "starving actors" fact. That is the main reason I don't know if choosing a career in one of these creative areas is a good idea. Teaching gave me no time to work on this stuff. That's why I was looking for a different career. Thanks!

Acting career while in College? So basically i am having a hard time figuring out what I want to do with college. I ultimately I want to have a career as an actor but at the same time i want to go to college to be more educated and also because I want to be an entrepreneur once I get my acting career somewhere. Now I am debating with myself whether I should do full time college (and I have to work full time) or should I start my acting career now and basically start learning that business while also learning in college. I am 19 and if I go full time in college I could be done by the time I am like 23 but at the same time I feel like I would miss a lot of life's great experiences! At the same time though if I go part time I will be about 27 finishing college. However I will have experienced a lot and also I will have had a lot of experience in the Entertainment industry by then. So what do you guys think? Should I work on my acting career while in college?

Career Change? I am thinking of having a career change, and since I have always enjoyed working with figures, can you suggest any careers that I could go into? I am a graduate with an ordinary degree in finance, operation research, & mathematics. I live in the West Midlands, England. By the way, I am 40 years old, so have eliminated a lot of possible careers, such as accountancy, since it requires a fair few years of studying and work experience, and by the time I finish all that, I am not sure if someone will give me a job, taking my age into consideration. Many Thanks
College and career info and websites please!? Thanks for taking the time to read this and anwer my question. I will award 10 points to whoever helps me the most. I am halfway through my sophmore year of high school and I realize I need to start thinking about colleges and careers. Does anyone have any website that I could go to and find information about colleges and careers? Any recommendations for me? If it helps, here is some information about me: I have mostly all A's. I took AP Psychology, English 10 CP, and two advanced math courses. I plan to continue taking CP English, Accelerated Precalc and Acc. Calc. I also will probably take AP Chemistry or AP Physics. There is a Career Prep Center that we can opt. to take next year, and I plan to go there, possibly to take the Medical Course. CPC gives you hands on knowledge of different career fields. I have a 4.020 currently Psychology and medical interests me a bit. I really don't know what I want to do after high school. I need websites for informatio of different fields.
dog musher career? I am looking into a career with dogs and I’ve visited a dog sledding tour guide service in Albert Canada and now I’m hooked and want to get a career linked with dog sledding. There isn’t really much info as a career on this type of job but I’m guessing training with a tour guide service would benefit for whatever job I wanted to pick as a dog musher or a trainer. Is there a college course or courses that someone would take to go into these careers or is it mostly apprenticeship?
What career path should I take? I am stuck on what to do, I love so many things. I love history, music, psychology. I also really enjoy video games and creative writting. However my only problem is I can have a career with all this. What career path would you SUGGEST. I understand I make the final decision but help me out a little. I am only a sophmore in high school so I still have some time but I want to get started on what I wanna do after high school. I am creative, polite, understanding, commited, and thoughtful. Any suggestions for a career that may interest me?
Fun and Creative Career choices?? I'm deciding which career path to persue and what I want to major in for college. I've thought about some different opportunities but am not quite sure which best suits me, so I would like to know what other career's you know of that might be of interest. I'm open for anything! I'm very social and outgoing, and with all my career path quiz answers they have all come up as 'creative'. Such as photographer, fashion designer, fasion editor.. so on so forth. I would like something that doesnt take 20 years to get a decent salary, and would not be something I dread waking up to every morning. Or that there is a once in a blue moon opportunity to get a job as. The careers that have interested me are to do something with fashion, such as working at a magazine? Or maybe even go into styling with make-up, hair and clothing? I would just like some non biased oppinions on what the pro's and con's are of what I want to do or some other jobs that sounds like something i would enjoy.

New Career - is it possible for me?? I'm 25 yrs. old and want to persue a career as a Medical Examiner. However; here is my challenge and the real reason why I have not made any movements towards achieving a career - - when I was younger I made a few mistakes that landed me a criminal record as an adult. I have like 3-4 theft charges (misdemeanors) and a couple of felonies - possesion of stolen property and I think a burglary (I was a passenger in a stolen vehicle). I went to jail a couple of times serving a max sentence of 90 days and the felonies landed me in prison. I got a sentence of 18 mos and served 8-9. I was on parole and discharged a year later. I discharged parole 2-3 years ago. Is there realistic hope of me being able to get a career in the field I most would like to be in.....If not is there hope of me being able to get a career at all?? Please Help.
Career help? What are some ideas for someone who may want to change careers? Live (vs) Career? Im a recent college graduate and had several nice job offers... none of which I'm particularly siked about. I just got back from backpacking Europe and I miss that thrill of living life and not being confined to the limitations society places on you (ie. grow up, work dead end job, family). So im presently contemplating moving to the beach and just bartending when i get there. Am I crazy to postpone a promising career merely to live on the beach and work a job im overqualifed for? Im 22, so does it really matter if I start my career now or later?? Those who have been in my position do you regret starting your career early opposed to enjoying life and just doing something for the hell of it??
Career....? I'm going to high school next year, and I know most of you think im too young to be thinking about a future job, but I must choose some electives for what classes I'll take, and I want to go in two different directions, journalist and stock broker. I just need to hear from anyone with experience in those careers, and help at all would be appreciated. ________________ Visit www.ultimategamingguide.webs.com today!
How many Career cards do you pass out in LIFE twists and turns? Instructions say distribute career cards evenly among players then set aside any remaining cards. My girl thinks it means we all get one random career card and pick front or back. I think it means we deal career cards evenly to each player until they are gone or they will not be equal (3 cards to each player in a 4 player game) in which we then choose out of 6 total career choices.
career help??? i want to choose a career in which i wud work for a company and that company would send me to other countries related to the office work(i like to travel around)..which career(s) involve this requirement????
Career Advice needed on IT/programming jobs/Qualifications? Hi Ever since i was young i always wanted to be in the army. I dunno wot it was but i just had a passion for the military. BUT! as i get older (now 14) i realize that I SERIOUSLY need to start thinking about my career! I have been brought up with PC's. I remember as a young kid playing on MOH and COD with my dad and his clan! I am still an avid PC user, and recently with help from my Dad, built my first ever PC. naturally people think i am the sort of person who loves to go to school and am great at lessons and such or a Nerd, but the truth is, is Im just an average kid who has a passion for computers and most my friends do not share it! I think after heavy thought this is the career for me. Anyway, its only recently i first started to learn the basics of programming. I have started learning BASIC and coding simple Calculator program just to get me started. My question is? For a job in IT which is a good career? Programming? Design? What qualifications would you suggest for me? thanks Thanks for all your answers and I,m pretty sure i wanna take the programming path. I've been told that if i start earlier, like i am doing, then it will be easier for me further down the line. E.G i was told learning BASIC meant that when it came to more complex languages such as C++ or java, it would be a lot easier. Thanks thats been a great help. keep 'em comin' :D

What career??? I'm really confused on what career I want to do? I'm a junior in High School, but I need to get some idea. At first I wanted to be a pediatrician b/c I love kids, I'm great with them, and I wanted to do something in the medical field. But someone said if I do, I have to give them shots and stuff. I don't have a problem with seeing blood, it's just I dont want to have to be the one to hurt children. So what other careers are out there that involve children in the medical field, but I don't have to do anything to make them cry or get them hurt. You can also give me careers that aren't in the medical field but have to do with children. Anything would help. Thanks!
Career prospects with an English or Archaeology degree? I've been offered a place at severla universities...but im torn between two courses; English and American Literature, or Archaeology, Egyptology and Communication Studies. I'm really interested in both of these courses but I'm not sure what career I can go into with the latter. If i wanted to go into Marketing or PR would they accept a degree in Archaeology etc...or would it be too obscure?? I know I can do a lot, including most business fields, with an English degree...so it's a safe bet, but on the otherhand I'll never get the chance to study the other course again. If someone could give me some information on careers it would be very much appreciated as Im so confused! =/ Thank you :) x
Career change, please help!!? My boyfriend is 35 and is hating his current career and the daily 3hr-round-commute to London. He has been in his line of work for about 10 years and doesn't have any enthusiasm for it anymore. He has a real passion for animals, music and sport and would love a job in any of these areas (music = behind scenes, not performing). He currently earns £40k, which would probably be halved in a new career. He wouldn't be able to afford to keep his home. My suggestion = his Surrey flat is worth £200k. Similar flats in Birmingham (where I live) cost £150k. If he sold, he would have £50k spare. I thought he could train or do voluntary work for a year if necessary to get some experience, using the spare £50k as a 'salary' until he is able to start his new career. I will be earning somewhere between £14-20k and living with him. What do you guys think? Is this unrealistic? Does anyone have any suggestions for careers that take less than a year or two to train for? Thank you! In response to the guy who asked why my boyfriend is not asking this question for himself - he's not asking because he's too busy working!! I on the other hand, am a student with lots of time to help him out. That's what being a couple is all about, helping each other!
Career Help! I have no idea!? I'm only 13, but I'm way (when I mean way, I mean WAY) younger than everyone else in my classes, so I need to pick out the courses I'll need for my future career. I really have no idea! My parents want me to become a doctor or something that makes money. Recently, I was fooling around with my friends and I was "interviewing" them with a magazine as a microphone, and they were really suprised with my voice, and i'm not camera shy, at all. I don't get embarrassed at all. They suggested me to become a host or actress! I like that idea, but what if I fail drastically? Or I could really have an awesome career. I myself WANTED to be a scientist, but i'm not too sure now. Help! If you guys could give me any suggestions on a career (one of the above or an interesting one) and give me some positive and negative points about it, that would be wonderful! I know you might think this is stupid asking ppl for help on MY career, but I'm not really going 2 do what you say, unless it sounds good! thnx!
career options?? im a freshman in high school and everyone is telling me that high school is leading you to your dream career so pick the classes that apply to that career. BUT... i dont know what i want to be. i feel like i should know already. what should i do? p.s. i have one idea...i might want to work as a C.S.I or sing for a career but what should i do if that doesn't come true for me?
A career as a barrister? I am sixteen years of age. After much thought, I have decided to pursue a career in Law, particularly interested in becoming a barrister. I have been informed that it is a very difficult, but worth while career choice. I was just wondering, How I would go about becoming a barrister? I have chosen to do History, English, Maths and Physics for my A-levels because at the time i was unsure of a career. What are the next steps to becoming a barrister? what is the job description like, for e.g hours and salary? I am also quite poor at public speaking and i know this is vital to becoming a barrister, is there anyway that i could obtain this " public speaking" skill through University or do most people already possess the skill before going to university? I understand this quite a time consuming question to answer but i would be very glad. Kind Regards.
Progamming Career? I am really looking towards programming as a career, but I'm not sure that I would enjoy anything but games for programming. I was hoping to get some insight into both game programming and programming for anything else so that I can get a better idea of what I'd be getting into. As far as college goes I'd get my computer science major...How challenging is that? Is programming stressfull? Are the hours tedious or rewarding?. What is the competition like for someone with a degree? Is it possible for a run of the mill programmer to make a career, or will he be weeded out? I would really appreciate any other comments on programming Maybe how you got to your career in programming, how others have, anything..
Career switch to Finance by doing an MBA followed by or combined with a CFA? Hi all, I am 28, Asian, I am a Mechanical Engineer with a degree (average grade), currently working for a Steel Manufacturer (Maintenance Dept) here in Ontario, Canada. It's not that I hate my job, it's quite stable, but there is not much money in it. Would an MBA (Major or even Master in Finance), combined with a CFA help? I mean, is it worth even pursuing an MBA, then get into the Finance field, and well, go from there? I have some interest in Finance, but have no experience/background. I buy/sell stocks but only for extra money and my interest/hobby. Should I do Cert. courses in Finance/investment to get a feel for it? Would MBA/CFA prosper a lucrative career? Am I too old for a career switch? Please advise. Thanks a million. What skills or talent are required to do well in MBA and CFA? Please advise. What kind of a person should work in Finance? Thanks.
